Now a bit dated, this book still has meaning. Our armed forces spoke clearly. The war was wrong, wasteful in lives and finances. Profitable for our rich leaders and rheir friend's corporations. This book ought to be read in history classes in high school.

I read this a little at a time--when I have a few minutes after reading something else. It's moving in that, like in Vietnam, there IS dissent within the ranks of those "serving." And I think Michael's question is a valid one: Will they trust us?

Frankly, I was moved to take it off the shelf again after witnessing another "Rolling Thunder" in Washington, in which some thousands of Vietnam vets, still struggling to make that slaugtherhouse the "good war," purport to defend "our troops" despite what they're doing (including torturing those who haven't even had the opportunity to see a lawyer. That's CRIMINAL. I repeat CRIMINAL.)

I gave it only 4 stars as, true, it may be "one-sided." Theoretically, there is another side. Among the reviews, there are some who say the other side should be included. Why? Every time Bush and his lieuteants--or is he their lieutenant?--opens their mouths, it's pro-war propaganda. Three quarters of the people want to pull out and we're still there. And we're spreading democracy? Hmmm....

I'm compelled to comment that I have yet to see a one-star reviewer who shows ANY evidence of having read the volume. Well, yes, you have a right to free speech--so far. But at least offer a little evidence that you at least have some idea of what the book is about before you comment on it.

For you others, read this. You'll find that there really are troops who wonder what we're doing there, how or why we got there. They, and most of the American people, want them to come home. At least you can share their sentiments in this book.

I'm a big fan of Moore, but I'd say that I was more disappointed in this piece than any of his others. I get the point...& think it is a valid one. I was very interested in listening to the dissenting soldiers when I started, & I'd say I remained interested for the 1st 2 tapes. But during the 3rd & 4th tape, it just started to drag on...same story...different person. Yes, I do want to hear what soldiers have to say, but one can only take so much repetition. To be honest, I never could finish the 4th tape. I was just ready to move on to new, more challenging reading/listening. If you're looking for repetitive evidence of the fact that many soldiers aren't happy with the war in Iraq, this is your baby. If you are looking for brain food, this isn't it. I give Moore 3 stars, though, because I think he accomplished his intent. It just wasn't what I was looking for. Sorry, Michael!

While the war profiteers hire marketing firms like The Rendon Group to sell their efforts to privatize Iraq's economy and justify Pentagon spending, Michael Moore continues his courageous efforts to give a perspective many dupes of the plutocracy don't want to hear. Another veteran who would've appreciated Moore's work, and the platform he has given to soldiers, is General Smedley Butler who wrote the classic "War is a Racket." And I quote, "I served in all ranks from lieutenant to major general. And during that period I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. . . Like all members of the military profession I never had an original thought until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of the higher-ups."

Moore's book shows that many in today's military are thinking independently. We can encourage others to do the same by sparing them the false & manipulative flattery of "thanks for serving our country" when, in fact, they're serving corporate elites. And we can go a step further and support the troops by mailing them copies of this important book via solidarity projects like "Books for Soldiers" and "AnySoldier.com."

After seeing 9/11 I wanted to write Michael Moore about the death of my brother, Michael R. Conner, USMC. Today I happened to see his book and was happily surprised to see my letter published by him.

If anyone doubts the letters, do a nexus-lexus search on the names-- the articles from each paper will pop up & will quickly verify the authenticity.

Guess what folks? Wars actually do KILL people...and I will always, ALWAYS miss my beloved brother.

~Peacefully and in my brothers memory~

This book is a wonderful insight into the hearts and minds of our men and women in Iraq and into the hearts and minds of their families, friends and fellow soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.

This book will make you angry and sad by turns, much in the same way the film "Fahrenheit 9/11" probably did.

Let's do the RIGHT thing to show our troops that we support them; let's get GWB OUT of D.C.

I read this book in less than 3 hours; I absolutely could *not* put it down.
