I want to rate the book 3 1/2. The author writes as if you have already learned where every early town, county, and river of early Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina Colonies are. This book would be so much more gleening with maps and annotations with every chapter. I constantly had to refer to a map to follow their travels and to locate towns and rivers mentioned.

It contains many references to my family and others as being the original settlers in the Blacksburg area. The information is presented concisely and easily referenced according to surnames found throughout the book.
