About the authors

Ian Fleming was a British author and journalist. His first novel, Casino Royale (1953), introduced spy hero, James Bond, agent 007, to the world. It was the first of fourteen James Bond books which have gone on to sell over 60 million copies worldwide and be translated into 20 languages. Beginning with the movie adaptation of Dr No in 1961, the series also sparked the longest-running film franchise in history. Both Fleming and his fictional counterpart have become synonymous with style, glamour and thrilling adventures, as well as universally recognised phrases such as “My name’s Bond, James Bond” and “shaken and not stirred”.
Fleming was born in London in 1908. In the 1930s he worked at Reuters news agency before joining Naval Intelligence as an officer during the Second World War. His talent for writing fast and engaging prose, along with his knowledge of espionage and his fertile imagination led to the creation of James Bond, arguably one of the most-famous fictional characters of all time. He also wrote children’s classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Fleming was married to Ann Rothermere with whom he had a son, Caspar. He died in 1964.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2016I purchased 4 of these 007 Omnibus collections for Christmas. I remember seeing many of these cartoon strips in the 1980s. I have not had a chance to read the entire volume. I can't wait to get into it. I recommend this to any 007 fan. They have the feel of the Ian Fleming novels.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2023I had some of the Dynamite comic reprints of James Bond and wanted to get the complete set of the UK based newspaper comic series before they might be unavailable due to current events. This book is one is a series of sequential reprints (some different and some duplicative of my Dynamite books) that collectively is a more holistic set. They were affordably priced in totality compared with other potential options for achieving the same BUT with one caveat. In order to jam all these comics in this oversized thicker flexible softcover book, the images and word font of the comics is reduced rather than enlarged like the Dynamite books. Unless you are strongly near-sighted, you may find the contents of these books too small to comfortably read even with reading glasses under a strong light. As opposed to going "all in" and buying everything at once, I'd suggest buying one volume and see what I mean so you can determine if it is reasonably readable by you before buying the rest of the set. I ended up keeping them anyway (even though they are very tough to read for me) because my other options were almost triple the price to obtain something equivalent to this "everything in one set of books."

John JoyceReviewed in the United Kingdom on May 25, 20145.0 out of 5 stars Excellent volume of post-Fleming Bond stories
Having done a superb job in bringing all the original Ian Fleming stories to comic strip format, this series of Omnibus editions moves smoothly towards new horizons with a volume of stories specially written for the medium and an excellent adaptation of Kingsley Amis's Bond novel 'Colonel Sun' with it's tastefully handled but ultimately chilling torture scene featuring an assault on our hero's inner ear with a skewer ( it was MUCH more graphically described in the book!!!). Horak, the artist, really gets into his stride now and the writing is still Flemingesque.

great artwork
pen&inkReviewed in the United Kingdom on September 18, 20134.0 out of 5 stars Good
Continues the series of newspaper strips and if they lack that quirkiness that Fleming brought to the character the artist Horak maintains his sperb skill in his depiction. Good production though the strip panels do suffer from this amount of reduction and they, if printed on better quality paper, would have looked and 'read' so much better. Even so, for true fans recommended.
