Backyard Fish Farming Paperback – January 1, 1980

3.0 out of 5 stars 8 ratings

Over-fishing and pollution of our waters has depleted natural stocks of fish and opened the door to commercial fish farms which will mass produce much of the fish we find in our local supermarkets. In this fascinating new book, Paul Bryant and Kim Jauncey explain how to build and maintain a smaller back-yard version of these fish farms. Includes everything you need to know from maintenance of tanks and ponds to breeding, feeding and general care of the fish.

Unless you live in the country the ideas in this book will not fit "in your back yard." The book seems to be hopelessly out dated. I found much better information on the internet.

Okfor beginners. Good basic ideas. All the temperatures are in centigrade however. It would have been nice if they had done the conversions for us.

Don't waste your money, I read the whole book in an hour. It is basically the same information you would get from a ten minute you tube video. Very low level stuff.

The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was the age. There may be newer editions? The detail looks a bit mind boggling at first, but this is the level needed to assess the viability of fish farming on a small scale, not that the book restricts its self to that. There are also a plenty of leads to further reading.
