My main focus in life is to stay connected with God and, from that One-ness, to collaborate with people of good will so that we may find kinder, more peaceful, more effective ways to live in greater security and harmony with the natural world and with each other.
I retired at age 25 (in 1970) the day after I realized I was getting addicted to the steady pay check and might forget who I am and what I came to this earth to do. When I retired, I dedicated my life to doing only what makes absolute sense to me for the rest of my life. So, I've been at this a pretty long time now and have realized some useful things that I enjoy sharing.
In addition to writing nonfiction and fiction about my ideas, I do public speaking, consulting and coaching, workshops and seminars to help people find what's really important to them and to live their highest dreams. I love helping people find their soul's work.
I work with organizations, too, to help them clarify their values, vision, goals and mission. I also help them develop much better skills in communications and teamwork. And, I help them enjoy life more while they're doing their job better. I generally do organisational work through my nonprofit corporation called the Center for New National Security, which I established in 1979.
Like most people, I'm working on various projects, including helping to build the Garden of Paradise, a healing and retreat center that is located in an exceptionally beautiful part of Ecuador - see www.gardenofparadise.net.
A lot of my projects involve butterflies, which I find so beautiful. Butterflies are also a universal symbol of transformation and rebirth. Please see www.butterflyblessings.net and my book Butterfly at http://www.amazon.com/Butterfly-Norie-Huddle/dp/1878690000 These themes of transformation and rebirth are also developed in my latest book, Return To The Garden - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0098OC3LI.
At the Butterfly Blessings website - www.butterflyblessings.net - go to the bookstore link and you can find a free pdf about the miraculous way I came to write the Butterfly book. And another free pdf about how the 1001 butterflies I drew and colored (one daily) helped save my life.
Early background: I grew up in the woods of Northern Virginia and, without knowing it, became an environmental activist at age five when I heard a strange noise in the woods off in the distance and went to investigate. I arrived at a clearing just as a giant bulldozer was toppling a beautiful big tree. Terrified, I ran home, thinking: "If this is happening all over, we're in trouble." Later I learned that it IS happening all over. And yes, we are in trouble.
I'm convinced we'd all enjoy life more if we play a different life game. And I've been working on the design of that new game since I had an epiphany about this in 1980, which I wrote about in the conclusion to my NY Times bestseller, Surviving: The Best Game on Earth. I call this new "life game" - which is a vast experiment in democracy - "The Best Game on Earth." And, of course, I'm working on a new book with the working title, How To Play The Best Game On Earth.
My life and writing reflect a personal quest to find ways for people of goodwill to come together and create a new "life game." If you'd like to be receive my blog posts, please go to www.butterflyblessings.net. There's a signup box near the bottom.
Also, I encourage you to check out my newest book, Return To The Garden. It's on Kindle - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0098OC3LI. It's my first novel and first Kindle book! It will give gives you a vision of the future that's very different from the gloom-and-doom stuff. Thank you for checking it out and letting me know in the reviews what you think.
I hope to meet you along the Path. Meanwhile, thank you for everything you're doing!
Love and Butterfly Blessings,
Norie Huddle
