- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2012Are you disgusted with the monetary policies of the Federal Reserve? Disgusted by the wretched state of our national economy? Tired of the lying politicians in both parties who continue to sell out the American people to the international banks? Don't vote for Ron Paul, read this book and learn about the American System, which is the real threat to the "New World Order." See how the Austrian School is the opposite to the American System in every way and is tantamount to treason. Learn about the policies of the great men who built and sustained this country, and how they were not for free trade, but for protectionism, government credit for industry, and subsidies to promote a high wage, industrial economy. Learn about oligarchy in the chapter "The Age of Oligarchy." Even gold bugs will love this book when they read in the chapter "Self Defense in the Crisis" that if they are out of debt and have no other uses for the money that buying gold could be a good hedge against inflation. But don't go crazy leprechaun, real value is in the creativity of the human mind and in our ability to increase the productive powers of labor, and that's what government economic policies should be promoting.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2014If you take time to read throughout this book, you will probably want to start buy gold coins and getting ready for a collapse sort of like the one the Soviet Union went through around the early 1990's, or like the demise of the British Empire after 1945, or like the Roman Empire 2000 yrs ago. America is blessed with a huge land mass, located on a favorable latitude, with long growing seasons, and ample mineral wealth and natural resources ( like water ). The American spirit was full of energy and goodwill, and valued education, and that can probably return, after the big "reset". But, reading into the history of the banking and money printing system ( The "Federal" Reserve Banks ), one begins to see how rigged the system has been since 1913.
Unfortunately, our broadcast media ( TV and radio ) and newspapers and magazines no longer spend much time doing "investigative" reporting on the topic of banking, so most Americans are completely unaware ( maybe blissfully ) of what is probably going on behind the curtain.
So, read this book and others if you want to start understanding how things really are set up.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2011What foresight this author had, especially when reading the excerpts from the mid to late 1990's, and the times proved to be exactly as he said. What a read! One of the most important books to read in the financial sector! This man knows what he is talking about!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2012Webster Tarpley is a kinda cool guy, but this book absolutely does not deal with how to survive the cataclysm. It is a fraud. The book tells how to fix the government, at best. It is a decent chronicle of the history of the signs of the collapse. There is one chapter on "self defense", or some mutilated indication, that might be what Tarpley is referencing when he puts this lemon on you. He tells you to get a pair of work clothes, visit the Mormon pantries, and sink every last penny into the government, yes - prepay them - before it happens. Well, I think most people can come up with elemental preparation by degrees, just as this sham does. But, maybe those sweet words are worth your money. Save yourself; it is a fraud. If you don't care about the title and just like reading books, then go for it - it will be informative. It was made for a junta who wants to run a good government. I myself am not up to aspiring for that. In hindsight of history, it seems misguided to hope for a benevolent junta to have the opportunity to exact the glory of this bogusly titled book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2015This is a thorough and well documented book on economic history. While Webster leans a bit toward Progressive thinking, this book is still valuable in seeing just exactly how we arrived at the current morass in which we find ourselves.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2016very detailed analysis. good section on dealing with the practical issues
