Editorial Reviews
Review
"The failure of America's foreign wars has been the vry freedoms they sought to preserve. For a wide audience, these collected essays summarize the historical revisionism which has gradually exposed the propaganda, lies, and myths that led America into World Wars I and II. As true libertarians know, war has ever been the health of the state. In our own time, it is clear that wars, hot and cold, have been responsible for the enormous taxes, deficits, and governmental spending that have created the welfare-warfare state so beloved by the social engineers and economic planners of the federal bureaucracy. If foreign wars have been America's chief failure, its great success has been the historic peace and freedoms, the individual liberties and responsibility, to which we must now return. All this, and more, the editors and contributors point out well and clearly in their valuable collection of original articles and book reviews." -- Arthur A. Ekirch, Jr., Professor of History, Emeritus, State University of New York at Albany

- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2014This book should be required reading for all students. .whether they are history majors or not. It is a shame for all of the sacrifices to make and keep America free, that so little is understood or taught in school. I am writing my own history book. .based upon major earth shaking revelations like what Richard Ebeling and historians like him have written.
In a nut shell.. we were lied to about our entry into WWll. . We knew about Pearl Harbor well in advance. let Stalin dupe us into participating in a whole alternate holocaust. with millions of deaths.... (Allied and Soviet citizens perished ) millions of POW Russians perished . We had to hide our participation. To help hide this we let him keep 100,000 Allied soldiers...and they were sent to a fate worse than death..40,000 of these were American.
Of course, Johnson lied about Viet Nam ..and the Gulf of Tonkin .incident .. that was a no brainer....and if one digs deeply enough they will see that the military industrial complex set in motion the actions that killed Kennedy.(not necessarily in this book ) They helped Stalin develop the nuclear bomb .with uranium and technological secrets ..(lend lease) ..
The biggest tragedy of all is that history, real history, is not taught in our schools. Well fed and well paid professors make good money to shovel pure manure to the minds of our students.
This book and Jacob Hornberger's organization , The Future of Freedom Foundation should be upheld in all of our learning institutions and all students in America should have mandatory reading of the contents.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2013I purchased this work to better acquaint myself with the folly of most of the wars that the United States government has engaged in. I was very pleased with this volume. I learned several valuable things from this book. This would be a good book to help a conservative Republican who is a blind supporter of America's "good wars". My only complaint is that this book was published before the whole 9/11-Afganistan-Iraq-War on Terror debacle, and thus does not cover that. I am a libertarian, American patriot, and author and I chose to recommend this book in chapter 14 of my own work, A Bible Based View Of Liberty And Free Governments. I highly recommend this work.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2014I did enjoy this book and found a couple of the speeches, writings to be very insightful. The inclusion of Herbert Spencer, and James Madison were nice generational tie- ins. Some of Jacob Hornberger's more personal VMI stories were compelling and Ralph Raico and Robert Higgs are both wonderful.
So why three stars?
The content was 4 1/2 stars, the individual writers were 5 stars, but it did seem to be repetitive and I found myself skipping and jumping back to different spots. I guess with this type of compilation that is not a terrible thing but for me annoying. That said I would recommend the content but for me the style was so -so.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2014This e-book contains numerous essays on the disaster of our foreign policy and military action during the last hundred years. In essence, the authors contend that the more wars we fight, the less free we become along with a depleted health of our economy. Essays include James Madison's warning of presence of standing armies and Ralph Raico's articles on the folly of war. A great set of works one can read on an e-book. The book also contains a bibliography, end notes and index. Five stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2013Great explanation of how the US strayed from the foreign policies envisioned by the founders and the effects on our country - huge beauracracies, loss of freedom, and excess interference in world affairs.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2013Affords and understanding of, and appreciation for the days before the U.S. became a great power and an international bully. A lucid explanation of why America's founding fathers never envisioned or wanted the country to become an empire or the world's policeman, perpetually wasting blood and treasure on futile international adventures. Could do more to link such ventures with the curtailment of freedom and impoverishment domestically.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2016Very enlightening and an eye opener to myths of history.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2017The politicians should read this book and take it to heart.

Reviewed in Japan on March 5, 20175.0 out of 5 stars 「正しい戦争」への異議
