- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2013I enjoyed this book. It is a great book to get you thinking about some basic decisions that most people just go with the flow with, without questioning alternatives. She explains in a non emotional evidence based way why she chose to raise her child this way. I think whomever gets this book should read it with an open mind. Don't feel bad or beat yourself about decisions you have already made but consider new options.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2012the book was in great shape. very nice seller - left a note in the book thanking me!. great service. sticky packaging on the back of the book, though
the book focuses more on homeschooling for younger children. It's a quick read- only took me about an hour and half to get through the whole book. Very insightful ideas and a good read though. Great starter book for beginning to study homeschooling, vaccines, the affect of TV, etc.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2015Awesome book. Have had it for years now and still refer back to it. She doesn't make you feel guilty if you don't agree with every thing. We don't homeschool, however, we are vaccine-free.
This book, for me, puts an end to feeling bullied into being called an "anti-vaxxer" and encourages me to refer to myself as "pro-information" instead of "pro-vaccines".
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2021I absolutely love this book! It is so full of information that makes you really think!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2010It's been said that "common sense is no longer common." It seems to me that this book seeks to put the "common" back into the phrase "common sense."
It gets back to thinking for ourselves, by asking the most simple & basic questions. So basic, that we have forgotten to ask them. Although this book seems to pack a lot of information, it is very easy to get through in one or two sittings. (i am a very slow reader) In fact, it is so concise and the topics so important (the health, protection and formation of these precious souls entrusted to parents) that one longs to read much, much more. Most of what I read in this book simply confirmed what I had already believed but gave my beliefs and intuition a more scientific base. And although the book raises many questions (especially within the chapter on Home schooling for me) , I look forward to reading an expanded version by Mrs. Cook.
