Living Under The Patriot Act: Educating A Society details the monumental struggle to bring the most powerful law in the war on terror since September 11, 2001 to fruition. The combatants included Republicans and Democrats from the 108th Congress and the "Coalition of Opposition" which emerged during the 109th Congress. The highly controversial Coalition's efforts threatened the renewal of the Patriot Act far beyond what the general public has been told. Living Under The Patriot Act: Educating A Society also includes the platforms and perceptions of individuals, as well as special interest groups, on many sides of the Patriot Act argument. These special interest groups range from groups as diverse as the ACLU to the Gun Owners of America. This book will appeal to all readers who are concerned about terrorism and the future of America. With this in mind, Living Under The Patriot Act: Educating A Society was written for the average everyday American, as well as the academic. In fact, due to ambiguous nature of the Patriot Act's construction, coupled with the growing threat of terrorism, the need for a comprehensive book on this law has never been greater. Regardless of where you stand on the Patriot Act debate, readers of this book will benefit from a superior knowledge which will strengthen any discussion on this unique law.

"Living Under the Patriot ACT: Educating a Society" is easily the best book that I've come across on the subject of the Patriot Act. I wasn't very familiar with the patriot act until I decided that, as an American, I should know more about how our government is taking steps to protect us.

I quickly learned that trying to make sense of the complete patriot act, as written, is extremely difficult. What the author does here is condense the patriot act down into an easily understood narrative (in layman's terms) that made learning easier for me. It also helped that he doesn't beat the reader over the head with his views on things, and gives nods to readers from both sides of the issue. I was very surprised by how much information is contained in this book, and also by how much information is not being made public about the patriot act.

I highly recommend this book as a learning tool for anyone interested in the patriot acts, or government in general. All Americans should have this information.

This book is very informative. The author does not take a stance on right or wrong but rather presents the act in a clear and concise way that is understandable. Definitely worth the read if you want to know what is going on in our world today.

I found the book to be very interesting and informative. It's not a light read, but the number of interesting facts that I found ended up teaching more about the laws of the Partiot Act and how it came to be formed. The author gives both sides to the debate and many perspectives that I never thought of before. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a rounded comprehensive study of the Patriot Act.

Paul Ibbetson has written "Living Under The Patriot Act: Educating A Society" in a very clear manner which those of us who do not have a formal background in law can understand. I believe that the American people needs to pay much more attention to the Patriot Act and the possibility of it misuse in the near future.

I thought this book was inviting from the start. My favorite aspect of this book is that it covers the basics right at the beginning so if you are new to the patriot act or governmental issues in general then you won't get lost. It's good for beginners!!
