"Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people, it is wholly inadequate for the governing of any other."
Be forewarned, this book is not an easy read, because of the visceral reaction that much of its news generates in the American mind--but it is an important read. I believe there are two kinds of people who will read it:
First, those who don't know or understand much about the culture war that is tearing this country apart--the person who is unaware of the fundamental transformation this country's culture is being subjected to at the hands of Progressives and Secular Humanists who are presently in charge. For these people this book provides an emergency education--a wake-up call--hopefully, before it is too late for the country! What you will learn goes to the very heart of the future of this country and the future of constitutional self-government. The book's message is a clear and compelling revelation that if you are not desperately worried about America's future, you are simply not paying attention!
Second, to the educated conservative--the "culture warrior" who has been, or wanted to be, in the "trenches" in our culture war for the last generation, this book is basic training for patriots--providing understanding of the strategy of the enemy and valuable "ammunition" for conducting ideological warfare. For this group, the best feature of Hice's book is the fact that it not only provides a chronology of information about the culture war that has been destroying America for over fifty years, but it also provides commentary on the significance of the information it provides. That is to say, it reports the history of an event and then explains why it matters--what it implies or could lead to. For those who need a little help imagining what the consequences of the deterioration of our founding principles will be, Hice "connects the dots," in a very helpful way.
No one who isn't brain-dead can read this book and not "catch" the author's sense of urgency about America's immediate future. And Dr. Hice pins the tail on the right donkey when he says, "We are the problem--but we are also the solution." Only We the People can solve this problem by creating a cultural atmosphere in which our Constitution can function successfully!
Finally -- the part of the book about exposure of Islam for what it is -- please. If he wants to be all tooty goody Christian -- how much blood has been spilled and continues to be spilled in the name of Christ and the Cross (directly or indirectly)? Hice loves to deploy the word "bigotry" but his every argument is a pure, ideologically narrow bigotry of the worst kind. He is ready to pick up the sword and start marching on modern Jerusalem(s). He forgets that the Crusaders, in their shameless religious bigotry, on their way there sacked, Christian cities, raped Christian women, and once they briefly(!) took Jerusalem, resorted to celebratory -- cannibalism. But Hice is very shoddy on history (facts) and much stronger on "beliefs". Hence -- a hack destined for 25c bargain bins, fire starting, and if you really really must, camping toilet paper.
Of us that want to save our country
And keep our freedom and liberty.
Our termites in government are out
To destroy us Dr Hice calls it like it is
"It's Now or Never." If only that were true. If only they would give it one more try, then give up and leave the rest of us to live our own lives within the U.S. Constitution instead of their bible. The Hice book spells out exactly what the fundamentalist christians and their Taliban counterparts want to do. It spells out the world they want to recreate for it hasn't existed in the real world for CENTURIES, since the 13th Century give or take. The Taliban has a slight lead in bringing their violence and hatred to the countries they inhabit. American Christians, like "Dr" Hice are trying hard to catch up. Subjugating women, people of color, gays, non-fundies--they are hard at work fixing these "problems". Hice writes in this book exactly what is needed to establish a Christian Taliban here in American.
Since establishing a Christian Taliban here is the goal. There is no need to present historical, social or religious facts. And Hice ignores or distorts all of them systematically, one by one. The book would be hilarious if it weren't for the fact that so many people have to suffer at the hands of manipulative and immoral religious zealots like this.
Sad to say, it looks like Hice will become a U.S. Congressman. It's interesting that he and his family live in Atlanta, and he is running in the 10th District which is, shall we say, not so cosmopolitan. Carpetbaggers never go away.
