Let's face it, if you are looking for a book that deals with OS deployment chances are you are at the very least already familiar with some deployment terms and processes. This book is for a manager or a person totally new to OS deployments. Don't buy this if you are looking for real in depth knowledge of the process. I bought this book on the Kindle format (very expensive for a Kindle title by the way) and the formatting is really really bad, not to mention it needed more editing.

Sorry, I really like the authors and their work in the deployment community but this book is not what I was expecting.

I've been waiting for a book by these guys for a long time and as a longtime user of Johann's Deployment CD's, the information is invaluable. If you in charge of managing and deploying images in your environment this book (and Vol. 2 which will probably cover Config Manager 2007) will be your bible. However, on Kindle side, I found the layout to be less than desirable. From this looks of it this probably create by the writers themselves as it looks more like a final draft copy. The table of contents is all out of whack and do not directly link to the chapters and sections of the book. Also the whatever they choose as bullets did not make the translation and all the chapters seem to run into another so it's hard to get a sense of what chapter/section you are actually on when following step by step. I don't think it's their fault, it's more than likely it's due to their publisher (most likely out of fear or laziness), bit a shame that there are still some tech publishers 5 - 10 years behind and refuse to release on electronic version. But still cannot recommend this book enough; it's clear, concise, easy to follow, and above all give you the tools you need to bump up your career and workplace.

I anxiously waited for this book to arrive and when it did, I was looking forward to learning a lot about deployment. I will say this though, if you're looking for great detail on how to get a Microsoft Deployment solution working perfectly and all of the details necessary to do so, this is NOT the book for you. It gives some valuable insight and quick overviews of how to do so but what I found to be so frustrating was how poorly written it was. The English and grammar are poor at best and this book really could have been proof read better by someone in third grade than whoever performed that task in this case.

Enough of the slamming though...for someone who is just looking for high level views of a technology that has many intricacies and a book with some detail but not much, this is a good fit. If you want much more well written chapters and much more detail on how all of it works, I recommend the latest SYBEX book that I received a couple of weeks ago called Mastering Windows 7 Deployment!

I built my MDT server by researching blogs, message boards, etc. Then I found this book. Wow, it could have saved me so much time! This thing is basically a step-by-step guide on how to setup MDT. You should be able to buy this and build your own deployment system without too much of a headache. Considering that Dell charges almost $40K for the Dell Kace system for deploying images to 300 machines this is a great deployment system to consider.

I have not only read this from cover to cover but I keep it as a reference book for troubleshooting or just reviewing a topic I haven't revisited in a while.

Would really like to see this book updated to the MDT 2012 software.

In a market where almost every computer book is around 900 pages (33% usable), Johan and his gang once again did what no one else is able to do today. Pack EVERYTHING you need to know about MDT and Deployments in less than 200 pages. they cut the fat and give you only what you need in detail. No BS.
I bought the book 2 months ago, changed the way I deploy and never looked back. Although it does not cover SCCM, you can get that part from DeploymentCD.com and combine the two.
Keep the great work guys, you are the Deployment powerhouse!

Yet another fine book by the team at Deployment Fundamentals. Makes migrating to Windows 7 tractable for most people, takes all the silos of knowledge and skills and gives you practical hands experience you can leverage at once. It is something that we can use now with windows 7 and not have to use other third party tools.

I found the whole series a must have to get productive in a short time getting the vast majority of the configuration and setup done easily. The breadth of the products covered makes them a must have worth the price.

Well what can I say.
MDT 2010 from Microsoft is a free deployment tool and works really well. IF you got the time to drill down into it.
With this book Johan has done that for you.
Its really great , covers all aspects of deployment.
I recommend it to all that wants a quick and running solution within 1-2 days and then you can build even more from that point.

Throw your cd/dvd installation kit away and start deploying with MDT.
