Osama Bin Laden: Dead or Alive? Paperback – May 20, 2009

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 31 ratings

Having gathered a following outside academia for his books questioning the standard narrative of the September 11th, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Griffin (emeritus, Claremont School of Theology) here questions whether Osama bin Laden is still alive. He concludes that bin Laden most likely died in 2001 and that subsequent messages from bin Laden have been faked, possibly as part of a psychological operations effort intended to maintain American public support for the war. From Publishers Weekly

In this cumbersome if intriguing extended essay, Griffin (The New Pearl Harbor) argues that Osama bin Laden is dead and that the tapes attributed to him are fakes designed by the U.S. to maintain support for antiterror initiatives and the Iraq war. Griffin sifts through a mountain of circumstantial evidence including statements from such officials as former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Afghan president Hamid Karzai, who have both stated that bin Laden may have been killed shortly after September 11. Keeping him alive serves propaganda purposes, Griffin contends, and he meticulously, if not entirely convincingly, dissects each message, of bin Laden's messages, from December 2001 to October 2008, to reveal how these communications have been conveniently timed and constructed to suit the needs of the Bush administration (particularly when it came to linking al-Qaeda to Iraq), going so far as to suggest they were fabricated with voice morphing technology. Griffin's research is worthy of consideration, but as the war in Afghanistan intensifies, the question of whether or not Osama bin Laden remains alive becomes an afterthought as newer challenges emerge. Review

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, one of the reasons for George W. Bush's invasion of Afghanistan was to uproot al Qaeda and "get" its leader, Osama bin Laden, "dead or alive." President Bush was widely criticized by his opponents, including presidential candidate Obama, for failing to achieve this objective. Why has the United States, with its massive intelligence apparatus and military might, not been able to apprehend bin Laden? In this provocative book, Griffin (codirector, Ctr. for Process Studies, Claremont Sch. of Theology: The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions), a leading conspiracy theorist on the subject of 9/11, seeks to solve this puzzle by asking, What if Osama bin Laden is no longer alive? He points out that the last time a message to or from bin Laden was intercepted was December 2001. Using a vast array of public statements and writings by public figures, military analysts, and former CIA officials and relying on publicly available data, Griffin deconstructs the report of the 9/11 Commission and highlights its omissions. He also examines purported messages from bin Laden since 2001 and finds little evidence that these in fact have come from bin Laden himself. VERDICT After presenting evidence worth pondering about bin Laden's possible demise, Griffin concludes more broadly by evaluating the policy implications of pursuing a debilitating war in Afghanistan. His highly recommended work is worth consideration by both general readers and students of 21st-century international affairs. We all owe Dr. David Ray Griffin a debt of gratitude greater than to anyone else in our lifetime. He has doggedly, patiently, uncompromisingly researched and impeccably reasoned his way past all the roadbocks laid down by all of our highest authorities and bought-and-paid-for "news" media like no one else, on every major aspect of the unspeakable 9/11 crimes, and now on the life status of their designated (but unindicted) boogy man, Osama bin Laden. That this potent volume has not been reviewed or discussed, or even its existence acknowledged, in any mainstream media outlet, speaks volumes. It's undiscussable because its conclusions are demonstrably and convincingly true, and the authorities can never admit that they have ardently perpetuated another big lie for the past eight years, along with and part and parcel of the massive lie of the sophistocated and technically complex and daunting mass crimes of 9/11, as perpetrated and carried out by a small handful of woeful Arabs, itself. Now, to bring the certainty of the essential truth of Dr. Griffin's overall revelation into the full public consciousnes and conventional understanding! Only thus can we recover a people's government in this country!

"Osama Bin Laden" reminds the reader that there were many varied and conflicting statements during the Bush Administration regarding the War on Terror, its perpetrators and whether or not American citizens were truly in danger after 9/11, other than those, of course, who were sent to Iraq to fight. Dick Cheney, for one, constantly reversed and restated his "facts" and "opinions" about Al Qaeda as did Donald Rumsfeld and numerous others in the rarefied White House cabal. This short book reminds the reader of information to which all have had access through the years if one weren't persuaded by the propaganda of the "moment." Probability forces one to come to terms with the likelihood that OBL has been dead for years but that he has enduring propaganda value, even for the current administration.

Newsflash Osama bin Laden dead long ago not killed by SEAL team 6. This would include the lack of any recording whatsoever by a SEAL team that have no less than six different cameras on their body that are working at all times. Or the burial of the most wanted man in the history of the world supposedly with his burial at sea with once again no video from all the cameras placed all over the SEAL team or no camera showing the burial of the most wanted man in the world. What seems more than a coincidence in a double rotor Chinook helicopter the entirety of SEAL team 6 was assassinated by their own governments. Did you hear that right? Every single member of SEAL Team six, dead!

The USG claims to have killed this 9/11 patsy and dumped his body in the ocean without allowing him to be identified by appearance, DNA, fingerprints, etc.

Investigate 9/11 for yourself and you'll see the obvious false flag, justifying the invasions of Afghan., Iraq, Libya, etc.

This book is a good companion to Griffin's other works, and can also be a reminder that much of the news discussion of terrorism is based on a set of assumptions that may be false: e.g. the assumption that Bin Laden is still alive. It is unclear what is the case, but the facts as laid out by Griffin don't inspire confidence in the claims that Bin Laden is hiding somewhere directing a war of terror.

David Ray Griffin's book is loaded with details about the end of OBL's life, which more likely seems to have occurred around 2001, NOT more recently. For those with inquiring minds who do NOT automatically buy into whatever "story" our media broadcasts this is a book you should not miss. So much evidence of propaganda & spin.......
