About the Author

Chiles Larson served as an Air Force photographer during the Korean War. His photographs have been published in Sail, Yachting, Sports Illustrated, Historic Preservation, the Washington Post, and the New York Times. His interest in Virginia and history manifested itself when he and his wife bought an historic farm in Albemarle County in 1981 and set about its restoration.
