This moving collection of intimate, poignant, and heart-warming letters was written by Karen Santorum to her unborn child, Gabriel Michael. During her pregnancy, Karen wrote letters to her son, never expecting that the letters would someday be published. Though her pregnancy began as normal, Karen ended up experiencing serious difficulties with her pregnancy at the same time that her husband Rick Santorum, the Republican Senator for Pennsylvania, was leading the charge against partial birth abortions in the U.S. Senate.Letters to Gabriel is the story of Gabriel Michael's short, but meaningful life, and a tribute to the sanctity of life, the deep faith of the Santorums, and strong family values. The intimate bond between mother and child is expressed by Karen with great tenderness and love. This is a deeply moving book that will touch the heart of its readers with the beauty of the gift of life, and inspire them to share it with others.

Our children are our greatest gifts and treasures! This book is an honest and heart wrenching account about the greatest loss anyone can experience , the loss of one's child. This book is the deeply personal and intimate account of a Mother's loss of her infant son, Gabriel Michael, told through precious letters penned from this Mommy to her beloved baby! Heartbreaking but at the same time inspiring, thought-provoking and encouraging that with faith, time and the Lord's help, there can be life, blessings and even healing and joy on the other side of tragedy!

This book was a heartfelt compilation of letters written by an expectant mother who eagerly awaited the birth of her son. When Karen and her husband Rick found out that the baby had a serious birth defect, they opted not to have the pregnancy terminated but to have the baby go through the delivery.I was in tears reading Karen's story of little Gabriel's birth and the ultimate death and how they handled the funeral for little Gabriel Michael Santorum. I hope that other people read this book to understand that once a baby is concieved it is a living being and not just an embryo that can be sucked out of a woman. This was a story of true family devotion for their children. Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is both a heart-breaking and a magnificently written book about a very public family's dealing with a very private matter and the place their faith played in their ability to get through this tragedy. I could hardly put it down, since I was also going through some difficult times. It is always such a source of strength to know that although we have to get through these times, and they will forever change our lives, we are never alone. Rick and Karen had to go through losing their beloved Gabriel in their own ways, but they always knew that the One who loves us more than we will ever know had Gabriel safely in His arms and was with them every step of the way.

Karen and Rick, along with their other children, are quite inspirational and a testament to the Catholic Christian family. As the title says Karen Santorum writes letters to her unborn child in the womb. Touching passages from a mother's heart to her precious child. You will be moved, Have the kleenex ready. Whatever your political leanings, this is a book by a Mom who is first and foremost a mother.
