How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Hope: Same town, different Governor
I have been given a wonderful advantage in reading this book: I have known Mike Huckabee for about 14 years and served on his staff for over four years. (See customer picture)What strikes me most about him is his genuineness, his true concern for people and his firm convictions. Most politicians ask consultants and examine polls to determine what they believe. Those beliefs change with the changing of the wind. Mike Huckabee is not most politicians. As you read this book, I'm sure you will find yourself agreeing with his common sense approach to important issues. You will plainly see the leader I called Governor. You will also see my friend, a friend I could literally trust with my life and livelihood.Mike Huckabee could be President and when you read this book, I believe you will agree.Review by Larry Toller, author: "My Story Your Story His Story" Foreword by Mike Huckabee (available at amazon.com)

- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2007Mike Huckabee is a man who is determined to make a difference in this world. He has excellent ideas coupled with the determination and experience required to implement them. Mike concentrates on 12 things that every American needs to STOP doing in order to restore America to it's greatness. Mike exhibits wisdom, insight, and a great sense of humor which not only entices readers to devour the book, but also motivates them to take action to strengthen and preserve our country. A man who can motivate an apathetic nation is a man who would make an excellent president. This book inspires me. I plan to read the other 5 books that Mike has written, and I will definitely be voting for Mike Huckabee for president.

Amazon CustomerOrdered all of Huckabee's and Ron Paul's books to compare the two to each other. Ron Paul represents what it meant to be "conservative" in the U.S. for three hundred years; Huckabee is a run-of-the-mill neoconservative.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2007Governor Mike Huckabee has had to learn how to get along with Democrats in Arkansas if he wanted to get anything done. And his book gives you an inside look at how he approaches political dialogue and how he thinks we should be talking about these matters beyond the borders of Arkansas. Aristotle said nothing improves your aim like having a target, and the Governor has set targets, 12 of them, with sub-parts, that you could concur with or reject but that you have to respect as well-considered. At the core of the Governor's approach is a code of faith and ethics that he tries to apply to himself and his public conduct. Of course, that's refreshing when we see all around us the corrosive effect of our institutions on public figures in a bi-partisan way. The Governor describes how he disciplined himself to take charge of his diet and his weight in an ever-fattening America. If America heeded his advice on this one subject alone, we would improve this nation's well-being. While I don't agree with all that the Governor says, this is worth the read for his fine writing style and because this is the kind of discussion we should be having in this nation, about solutions, instead of ad-hominem attacks on the character of our public figures. You remember that old song: Accentuate the positive, Decentuate the negative, and watch out for Mr. In-between. "The positive" in a nation facing challenges is hard and tough discussion about how we handle these problems, and Governor Huckabee has made a contribution to that debate.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2008Having already read Huckabee's book, "Character Makes a Difference," I knew that the governor was a good writer. However I wasn't prepared for the depth of his political insights and breadth of governmental acumen. He can both talk the talk and walk the walk. He has measurably helped his own state, and it looks to me like he could help the whole country.
What a concept! A politician with integrity and humility. I hope we get to vote for him in the fall. You don't have to agree with everything he says, but it would make real good sense to listen to everything he says. He has been there and done that and in a difficult and unfriendly setting.
I'm on the bandwagon!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2007Perhaps I'm a bit prejudiced since I've known Mike for 13-14 years, since he first became Lt. Governor of Arkansas. He was born and raised in Hope, unlike Bill Clinton, who grew up in wide open Hot Springs. This upbringing gave him values that endure to this day. His education and career as a Baptist minister have served him well. I fully expect him to go on to higher achievement. I have six of his books.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2008I am a strong supporter of Mikes, The book started very well for me and was an inspirational read. I felt I could relate allot of his younger days like the iron on patches on the pants, I hated those as a kid. But I really got a sour taste when reading the immigration chapter. I got the impression that he was strong on enforcing our laws on immigration and like his plan on his web page, His book shows a much different approach. I got the impression that he felt allot of peoples anger and passion on this subject was from racism, I disagree with that path of thinking. I will still Vote for this man as he represents our country better than any other candidate. I truly hope he has opened his mind and changed his view since the book was written.
I am not a Christian and I will vote for mike. The book was good but it felt allot like a commercial.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2015I am embarrassed to say that this is the first time that I really got a chance to "meet" Mike Huckabee. I was very impressed with what I read. He seems to have such a common sense approach to the problems facing our Nation. I was pleased to hear his take on being pro-life, and I like the fact that he presented ideas on how you and I can work towards addressing each of the 12 areas that are making the USA less of a "land of the free and the home of the brave."
