Save your money while you work, buy some land, work the land by growing things learning how to build essential things - then, maybe you can survive without a salary. It also helps to buy second hand as much as possible, stop eating in restaurants, and learning how to be frugal in general. You will always need some income for taxes, medical, and gas. Read Mother Earth News mags for better ways to get off the grid.

Most of the material in this book was stuff I already knew. It reinforced my intention to proceed with my lifestyle choices, and there were a couple of tips that will save me much more money than the cost of the book. It badly needs updating, though.
