Yvon Cyr, himself an Acadian descendant, was born in 1940 in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada. Inspired by his late uncle Roch Cyr, Yvon began compiling family tree submissions from Acadian and Cajun descendants in 1990. Yvon authored and published his first genealogy CD "In search of Our Acadian Roots" for the Congres Mondial Acadien in 1994. Through his website, Acadian Genealogy Homepage, Yvon continued to compile family trees from individuals with Acadian and Cajun ancestry. In 1999, Progeny Publishing of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, licensed Yvon's collection to produce the Acadian-Cajun Family Trees CD. Yvon continues to dedicate much of his time to maintaining his website and researching his own Acadian roots.
