Painful Questions: An Analysis Of The Sept. 11th Attack Paperback – September 1, 2002
This book is being used by people around the world to support the accusation that the US Government was the primary conspirator in the 9-11 attack.
For two examples, David Ray Griffin references it in his book "The New Pearl Harbor", and Andreas von Bulow, a retired German government official, is referencing it in his book published in Germany.
If you believe Osama bin Laden attacked us without our government's assistance, why not find the flaws in this book, put these accusations to rest, and help restore America's credibility?
If you already believe the attack was conducted by the U.S. government, this book will help you educate your fellow citizens on the unbelievable corruption in our world.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2004I am blown away by the alleged engineer's comments. If you look at the video, you can see that when the very top first floors hit the floors below them, they are pulverized and the clouds of conrete dust come out of the windows at supersonic speeds. These top floors would not have the falling mass nor speed to pulverize them, nor eject such clouds. Moreover, even though it the floors might crash through the floors below, their speed would be slowed below the free fall speed. Moreover, the pieces of the building would not be so uniform. Examine any building destroyed by artillary or bombing and later fire. This was a controlled explosion beyond any doubt. Would an architect design a building that would collapse when one or two floors collapsed? The engineering is all there to look at.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2013I found this very informative. Several of the visuals that were broadcast by the news, were incorrect. The photos in the book were all referenced, and informative. I have read several books about the 9/11 attack, and this is one of the most accurate and yet easily accessible ones that I read.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2004This book is probably the most readable in terms of understanding the technical aspects of the WTC collapse and Pentagon crash.
Humschmid illustrates that the collapse of three steel structures due to fire is either the biggest coincidence in structural engineering history or the attack was a scam. what most disturbing is the degree to which the government has gone to cover this up. The fact that most Americans seem oblivious to this sham. The two biggest giveaways are the pentagon crash and the WTC 7 collapse. You'll have to read the book to find out why.
Despite what the negative reviews say, The laws of physics don't change because the government says so. it's amazing the degree to which some people will go to to ignore facts. But I digress. Bottom line, I found this book contained the most readable explanation of the collapse of the twin towers and building seven.
don't be swayed by those who label books like these x-files stuff. The fact that the naysayers have to resort to labeling and name calling is proof positive they have absolutely no case.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2006OK, wake up America! How did the towers free fall to the ground? What mass of energy was so strong as to pulverize the reinforced concrete to dust? Why very quickly destroy evidence by immediately shipping off all steel to China for re-cycling? Building 7 looked exactly like an everyday controlled demolition. You have to be a blind man not to see that. Why was it so, so very hot at the base of the collapsed towers for so long after? Have you never seen a magic trick before?
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2007If you believe the line about how the towers fell due to heat, fire, impact...you need to read this book. Warning: When you present people you know with the hardcore evidence that this book presents, you will know first hand what "willfully ignorant" means. People don't want to know the truth! As the title of the book says, it's "painfull" to accept the truth sometimes.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2016This has some interesting points, but I didn't find anything exactly new or revealing.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2012Painful Questions was one of the first of the 9/11 conspiracy books. While it asks questions rather than provide answers, it is well illustrated and outlines the main themes of the conspiracy. These are that the collapse of World Trade Center buildings 1, 2 and 7 were controlled demolitions and that the Pentagon was hit with a missile rather than a jet liner. The book goes on to say that the only people who could have done this is the government itself and places the blame on the CIA and FBI, what he calls "The Axis Of Good" in opposition to President Bush's "Axis of Evil" representation of North Korea, Iraq and Iran.
After 110 pages of text and illustrations on the events of 9/11, the author spends the last third of the book rehashing the John F. Kennedy murder conspiracy and a few other events he claims are government cover-ups. While he may do this to show that the government is capable of such actions, it makes him look even more untrustworthy and paranoid.
This is not a good book for information on the conspiracy theories surrounding the 9/11 attacks. Published only a year after, it's main value is in showing the early development of the conspiracy ideas. It also is highly illustrated providing many photographs and illustrations to support his beliefs.

While the writing style leaves something to be desired this is probably the best photographic record of 9/11 currently in print, and the photographs alone show that the official story is a joke.
