An incredible book. The story Holzer's childhood makes it hard to believe he was born in the 20th century and wasn't a contemporary of Hansel and Gretel. The section relating his struggles with bureaucrats made me rejoice that our own version are comparatively incompetent in their oversight, interference and meddling in our lives. The heart of the book is the model showing how anyone willing to work hard, oppose authority and never question their own vision can achieve success, whether on a local or global stage.

awesome book full of non-conventional wisdom. I've read it twice and recommended it to multiple friends. it gets a little political sometimes, but most of the stories are pretty funny. Practical wisdom for permaculture enthusiasts, especially on ponds and aquaculture.

Sepp Holzer was not always a rebel. He followed the conventional wisdom of chemical farming pushed by companies following the war years. He learned the hard way because he experienced the failure of these methods and decided to follow his instincts instead. It was his success during his play and curiosity years as a child that gave him the confidence to strike out on his own despite officialdoms' harassment and narrow mindedness.
One of the best t things I learned is that Nature never does the traditional follow method. It makes one very confident that there is so much more to life when we truly listen to nature and act according. Spirituality is indivisibility in all that we are together with Nature.
I just came from an agriculture technology exhibit and fair and there wasn't anything I felt I needed to buy. This feeling of independence was great! I am farming here in the tropics and trying his methods. It feels good to be part of life.

If you know about him this is well worth the read. Pitty It is not on kindle or I would listen to it several times when driving.
Something everyone who has issues with government departments should read and take heart from persisting.

I am convinced that originally man must have cultivated like this to survive and enjoy his life. This is a super book of encouragement for every person who ever wanted to grow things and confessed they did not have a green thumb. Yes you can do it too!!!

So go start you Garden of Eden today the sustainable way and continue to enjoy your life. Keeping in mind we reap what we sow. Both in life and in our gardens. Don't forget to share. Plant enough for the birds and animals and don't be too greedy you can't possibly use it all.

Not what I expected. A waste of my money . Very little information that was useful. I am greatly disappointed.

Good, but not as great as his next book. This is more of an autobiography, but does give some of his permaculture methods.

Very interesting book. But beware - if you are looking for permaculture recipes, you won't find many in this one. Rather, you will be given Sepp's prospective and history to give you some food for thought, and the actual observations and decisions are up to you.
Still, very interesting book to read!
