    Andre Vltchek has traveled all over the world to personally investigate the U.S. Empire's crimes against humanity. This is a record of his travels, his experiences and his thoughts on how things are, and how they ought to be. His is a clear voice for a revolution of the downtrodden, the exploited and the oppressed. This book is essential for anyone who wants to truly understand the geopolitical situation and how the most exploited people and nations have begun to rise up against the tyranny of the capitalist West and all its lackeys. Vltchek celebrates this new movement of anti-imperialist nations led primarily by Russia and China, but also others who refuse to bow down to the unremitting greed of capitalist imperialism. There are, it must be said, a number of proofreading errors in this book, but they do not detract from the substance of the work and its powerful message. Buy several copies and hand them out to friends and family who have begun to question the system and are eager to learn the truth!

    In this book Vltchek exposes cruelty, corruption, murder, and other consequences of unrestrained imperialism, mostly by western powers, through the eyes of a man with socialist inclinations. He enters the world of the oppressed, often literally, physically, and reports on crimes and injustices that will shock all but the most callous doubter. He covers stories seldom reported in western MSM, and his reports are disturbingly believable. Throughout the book he wears his emotions on his sleeve. It is hard not to be drawn in.

    Mr. Vltchek exhibits broad experience investigating disturbing conditions across the world, and gives a first person account of actual conditions that exist or have existed in troubled areas across the globe, including Kenya, Somalia, Panama, Central America, Turkey, Viet Nam, India, Israel, Palestine, Syria, Chile, Cambodia, and many more. Two areas stand out as being of special concern to him: DR Congo and Indonesia (including East Timor.) Both of those countries have suffered mass murders in the millions.

    Reports of countries that are socialist or communist leaning such as China, North Korea, and Cuba are treated more gently in this book, exposing perhaps the author’s prejudice, but at the same time giving western readers a view generally denied them by the western mainstream media.

    This book is a virtual world tour of recent history, one that is NOT written by the local Chambers of Commerce.

This book is very thought provoking and Andre's analysis is clearly thought out and convincing. This books shows the true nature of the real evil empire and the greed that is central to it. The author's views are based on extensive travel in conflict locations and are the result of a life which most of us in the West are not exposed to. This author has put his life on the line to acquire the experiences enabling him to write this book. I thank him for his efforts and for the selfless way of life which he has adopted.

    Yesterday there was a big anti-Trident gathering in London. On the BBC News website it was buried under stuff about Adele, the Oscars and other noisy ephemera. In his book Vltchek ignores the cheap and dangerous distractions channeled into our houses and heads. He shines a light into all those dark places the 'Empire' like s to keep dark. Bit of a plug: listen to him on the blog on the Counterpunch web-site; he's not a dry institutionalised academic. Listen and you'll have a list of poetry, novels, films and non-fiction that will keep you profitably occupied, informed and entertained for years. Wonderful stuff.
    As one of the other reviewers says, there are a few stylistic and linguistic infelicities in the text. Don't worry about it. It's not slick, so what? Neither was Leadbelly, and Miles Davis didn't worry about the odd clunker did he? Both Huddie and Miles were true geniuses right?
