About the Author

Hijo de una familia burguesa, Verne (Nantes, 1828 - Amiens, 1905) tuvo una voluntad literaria inquebrantable. Pese a la obligación paterna de cursar leyes y a la presión familiar para que abandonase su vocación, el escritor pudo superar las coacciones y obstáculos y en 1862 obtiene su primer contrato con el editor Hetzel. Comienza entonces a publicar la serie Viajes extraordinarios, con títulos como Cinco semanas en globo, Viaje al centro de la Tierra, De la Tierra a la Luna, La vuelta al mundo en ochenta días, etc., obras con las que dio forma al nuevo género novelístico de la ciencia-ficción y que la crítica acogió con gran entusiasmo. Es considerado uno de los padres de la ciencia ficción, y en sus textos imaginó máquinas y tecnologías que tardaron muchos años en desarrollarse.

Max Hierro nació en Salamanca en 1975. Estudió Diseño Gráfico en la Escuela de Arte de Salamanca. Posteriormente, atraído por la técnica del grabado, completó su formación en Oviedo. Ha trabajado en numerosas publicaciones periódicas, e ilustrado cómic, libros infantiles... En Anaya podemos apreciar su trabajo en libros como Veinte mil leguas de viaje submarino, Alejandro Magno, Klaus Nowak, limpiador de alcantarillas, Cuentos de Poe, etc.

El chaval necesitaba un libro de lectura libre para el cole, y yo le dije que pillara este, primero porque era de Julio Verne y pienso que es un autor clásico de los que yo clasificaría como imprescindibles o lectura obligada en estas edades, segundo, porque es una historia que siempre me gusto en esas edades de 11 años.

Que me ha gustado? Pues que mi hijo ha reaccionado muy bien a la lectura, y ha tenido una consecuencia que no me esperaba, se ha comprado un mapamundi grandote para hacer una exposicion en clase de la lectura a todos sus compañeros, marcando en el mapa los viajes del Nautilus, y ya digo esto he visto que ha despertado en el cierto interés por la geografía mundial.

Por lo tanto la compra ha sido todo un acierto.
