For years, the soundtrack to Blade Runner held legendary status among fans of Greek synthesist Vangelis. Except for a few cuts on the Themes compilation, it had never been released on vinyl or CD, although there was an orchestral version of the score. But in 1994, 12 years after Vangelis composed the dark, edgy soundtrack to director Ridley Scott's archetypal science fiction thriller, the music of Blade Runner came out in all its cybernoir glory.
Vangelis couched his electrosymphonic score in percussive rhythms and shadowed timbres. Effectively interpolating dialogue from the film, the CD moves from the threatening tension of "Blush Response" to the ethereal wordless vocal of Mary Hopkin over a water-drop synthesizer sequence on "Rachel's Song." A few tracks, notably "Love Theme" with Dick Morrisey's smarmy saxophone solo, drip with Hollywood sentimentality, but Vangelis quickly wipes that away with the hyperdrive of "Blade Runner (End Titles)." --John Diliberto

Presentation of the vinyl is excellent, with an unexpected gatefold jacket, and lots of pictures from the movie, including one of Vangelis himself from the 80s. The disc labels are slightly confusing, as only one boldly proclaims which side you're looking at (Side 2 as it happens), so if you extract the record from its sleeve as I did, facing Side 1, you'll probably stand there, foolishly staring at it for several long moments, trying to ascertain which side it is.
While in otherwise pristine condition, my album jacket suffered some damage along the top edge where apparently the disc itself banged upwards inside during shipping hard enough and/or often enough to start to wear through. Oh, well.
Anyway, sounds superb!
Most of the music on this soundtrack is original for the movie and there are some pieces that he wrote for other albums or projects but they fit the movie so well that they were included like Memories of Green.
Vangelis wrote a lot of music for this movie and he used some in the soundtrack and some were included in the Trilogy set that was released years later in 2007.
The vinyl record sounds crisp and the results are amazing - much better than the CD version. If you have a record player and don't mind paying extra bucks to get the 180 gram vinyl version, then look no further.
Watch the movie, then listen to the soundtrack with your eyes closed and you are transported there...into the dark, gritty, bleak future. Maybe in danger, maybe regretting the loss of life, maybe getting soaked by the cold rain, or maybe feeling the warmth of falling in love... it all depends on which track you're listening to. For this reason alone you should buy this soundtrack.
But here are more reasons to purchase this item: CDs are now like Vinyl. They are being replaced by a newer technology; Apps, iTunes, Mp3s, etc. But what is that new technology really? Simply electrical impulses. Think about it. It's not tangible. You can't touch it, hold it or look at it. If your battery dies, it disappears, ceases to exist. Gone.
Another reason is that this soundtrack hasn't been in print since 1994 and if you don't get it now, it will only be available to you as an electrical shadow.
And the last reason is that this is the BEST price for this brand new item available ANYWHERE. $10 for a treasure like this Can't and Shouldn't be passed up because you WILL regret not getting one when you had the chance. Get it before these few are all gone!
It's an opportunity of a lifetime.

Note that this is a black vinyl pressing, not the red version which was released a couple of years ago.
Also, most music tracks have lines dubbed in from the movie, detracting from music.
