This CD, by the way, makes a great gift for the girlfriend.

This album was the breakout album for Enya, the one with "Orinoco Flow", (you'll notice the name of that river, a river NO ONE had ever heard of before...has popped up numerous times in many venues over the past ten years,) and "Storms In Africa". This one pretty much set the formula for most Enya albums to follow.... dirge-like first song, a major hummable to follow, some very Irish sounding ballads and maybe one or two other major hummables, one or two of those three being movie soundtrack worthy....In this case, she's batting 3 for 3, with "Orinoco", "Storms" and "Cursum Perficio", the latter being a song I can't get enough of!
Like I said earlier, Enya makes the music of the spheres, and this album was the frst one of hers to break big. I just wish SOOOO many movie and commercial makers wouldn't cheapen her music by using it so often to hawk their wares!

What many people see as a 'normal' day, for me doesn't exist. Disability makes even the smallest of tasks physically draining. That means I need to relax and recharge. Now although the body struggles, the mind still goes like Usain Bolt over 100 metres making relaxing a real challenge. Put this album on, plug in the headphones close your eyes and before you get to the final track, you'll almost certainly be close to, if not actually asleep! This has to be the best relaxation album - ever.

I bought the cassette when it first came out and I loved it. Since the invention of CD's I've been meaning to replace it, never got round to it until now. It's perfect as expected although I did have a few worries because it was an import, needn't have worried, it's playing right now as I write this and it's perfectly fine. Wonderful, wonderful music. For some reason it always makes me want to cry, no idea why, could it be because I feel the depth and intensity or maybe it's because of Enya's clear and pure as water voice? I don't know but anyway, if you want soothing, relaxing and calming this is an album you should add to your collection... even if it does bring tears to your eye's, they'll be happy ones. Very highly recommended.

This is truely a remarkable album... a true classic, leaving me almost lost for words; as i feel i could not review it and do Watermark justice... I feel Enya's best work was from her 1st two albums, there was just something so captivating about them, magical and unique. Later albums where not bad at all, don't get me wrong(however I will say I was very disappointed with Amarantine and Dark Sky Island); but here bizarrely I find Orrinoco Flow one of my least favourite tracks! My own favourite's include the wonderful "Cursum Perficio", "Storms in Africa", and "The Long Ships". Overall, Shepherd Moons is the best album, for me, - but I thank Enya for making such beautiful music, which will remain timeless.
