An excellent way to sample Peter Hammills work. Although he has since produced many more fine songs this is a brilliant compilation of his earlier work. As the title suggests it contains his calmer songs and ideally should be purchased in conjunction with The Storm after the Calm which shows the otherside of his writing. If you don't know of Hammills work buy this (and Storm) and enjoy - you will then want to buy more.
This cd comprises basically Hammill's calmed songs from almost all of his solo carreer. Excellent. Its counterpart, called the storm, is also a very good record filled with aggressive progressive songs.
