First off, the body mass alone commands 5 stars. Secondly, and I hate saying this but someone at Amazon deserves to lose their career over the fact this movie only is granted 5 stars to rate. In a perfect world this should have a 63 star rating, which it would receive all 63 stars due to the fact that not 1 but 3 people in the movie served in public office. I mean, you put your life on the line to save our way of life and our species and then you serve public office, bravo America, bravo. Secondly, the story line is so fluid and flawless that Ronald Reagan was once overheard as saying; "Jesus H. Christ... I'd buy that for a dollar." Don't be fooled by the title, this love story is one for the ages.

this is not a movie review, but a more a review of the 3d version blu ray itself.
the 3d in this blu ray is honestly not worth it, like a 5 on a 10 scale. I own several other 3d blu rays to compare it to as far as depth, colors, etc
you can take off your 3d glasses at times and see normally (which means there is no 3d processing during that scene)
some movies benefit from post processing 3d, some don't, it depends on the studio/ blyu ray company I suppose.
Disney movies tend to have well done 3d blu rays from what I have seen so far.
the sound quality in this movie is just ok, it seems to lack bass dept during the explosions (I have a powered sub and surround sound hooked up, so it's obvious when bass is active)

I'm kind of embarrassed to have clicked all 5 stars for this film, but I really like it. Understand, I don't take it entirely serious, I'm absolutely in stitches at times (like when Arnold and Weathers, old friends reunite and do the handshake/wrestle thing . . . with the camera focusing on their massive bi's LOL)

Predator is a great action adventure and sci-fi genre film. THAT's what grabs me, I'm a sci-fi fan. In that regard, the story line is well written. It's yet another example how Hollywood can take a perfectly good idea and (almost)ruin it. I watch the film, enjoying the monster, laughing at the macho stuff and ignoring the vulgar stuff(there are a couple of blatant and UNNECCESSARY vulgar remarks. When the kids were younger, I bleeped 'em out).

At 107 minutes, Predator is about average length, but it seems longer because it's really two films in one. First, there's the Platoon style soldier interaction and prep, jungle entry and hasty retreat. Second, there's the Arnold solo survival and bout with the creature.
What I refer to as "Part 1" opens with Carl Weathers reuniting with his old buddy Schwarz for a special raid to save captured US GIs. Right away, the actors come across as WAY OLD for commandoes. Things start off routine and quickly run afoul as they discover mutilated bodies in the jungle. They successfully conduct the raid on a handful of unsuspecting combatants only to find no prisoners. Arnold realizes he's been duped by Weathers, but now faces a real threat as his men, one by one, turn up mutilated as well.
The dialogue is pitiful with Schwarz and Weathers struggling thru their lines.

This movie is a classic and deserves all possible accolades. It is of course an Arnold movie, but along with The Terminator and a couple of others, it explores some off the deepest conscious and subconscious fears, impulses and identity issues known to modern man, and most certainly to every warrior. I can watch it over and over again. I already know the lines. It's the set up and the way the action plays out that satisfy thoroughly. I wish there were more like this one.

This movie spawned an entire series. That series has horrible chapters and excellent ones. This one has become a classic among action movies, sci-fi, an Arnold fans.

Arnold's characters was named Dutch. He leads an elite military squad. So elite that they could choose which missions they accepted, and could disobey orders without extreme consequences. They were trained to be completely lethal, but they weren't assassins. They were a rescue squad, capable of eliminating anything between them and who they were sent to save.

The Predator is a fascinating alien, both physically and mentally. He's a reptilian humanoid. His eyes are nothing like human, he sees they world through thermographic vision. His psyche is that of a hunter and a warrior. Humans are his prey of choice. His primary weapons are wrist mounted blades and energy weapons. He also had a cloaking technology, that makes him nearly invisible to human eyes. He appears as nothing but shimmering or rippling image.

As Dutch's team moves through the jungle, they're hunted by the predator. They faced something that didn't exist in their training. As the hunt continued, their conditioned responses deteriorated. One by one they reverted to their natural/individual states.

Mac had a complete break down. He chased the Predator into the jungle, while screaming maniacly. Dillon overcame his CIA training, and remembered how to care about people - he went to save Mac. Confronted by the Predator, he found redemption and died with honor. Billy eventually stopped running. He drew a large knife waited for the Predator. He died standing tall and strong.

Dutch was far more than a trained fighter, he was a natural Warrior.
