A Solid Continuation of the TV Show

Initially I didn't like Endgame, but after more thought and repeated viewing I found this continuation of the TV Show to actually be quite good. Acting as both an ending and new beginning, the story and Jacob Kell tie in the closest to the original movie than the other sequels. The big selling point however is the relationship between Duncan and Connor and how it ends that gives the story emotional weight. Duncan, who considers Connor his brother, mentor, and teacher has always looked up to and admired Connor more than anyone else. Connor on the other hand has grown tired and weary of "the game" and knows the truth of what ultimately must happen in order to stop Jacob Kell. There are other elements in this movie as well that make it worthwhile. The slower pacing and superb soundtrack help give the story a darker tone than previous installments, and a subplot involving a former lover of Duncan's called Kate adds an interesting love/hate dynamic to the overall story. Definitely worth a look

Kinda like the first one- very good despite its quirks. Not the first time Connor and Duncan team up; the first episode of the tv series had Connor in it to kick things off and give credibility to the show. Here, their lives intersect once more, but it's for Connor to pass the torch to Duncan. I won't give away the ending for those of you reading this who have never seen it, but I will say that you will see Connor at what is probably the lowest point in his centuries-old life, definitely a different man than you're used to seeing (assuming you saw the previous movies, of course). Good that they brought Joe and Methos into it as well. This one is much better than the one that followed it, so enjoy!

A blend of the tv series and the original film, partially satisfying for fans of either

Highlander, the original film starring Christopher Lambert, was not intended to launch any sequels, and when it did people really wished it hadn't - not one but two terrible sequels are best left ignored. Fortunately the concept was revived in a big way with an excellent television series starring Adrian Paul that lasted several seasons. After the tv series ended they managed to make another film, Highlander IV: Endgame, which starred Adrian Paul and which sort of carried on the tv series while also giving a sendoff to the original film's Christopher Lambert.

A problem with Endgame is that Highlander had grown into a refined, dramatic action saga thanks to the television series, but the people funding the film were not aware of that and instead expected some sort of kung fu movie. As such Endgame never felt entirely done... two different recipes were thrown together, but the baking time wasn't the same.

Nonetheless, Endgame may be the first respectable sequel to come from this franchise. It offers just enough flavor from the tv series and the original film to partially satisfy everyone, and the more forgiving may appreciate it even more.
