After 8+ hours a day for 5 years of use... I'm buying another one.

this was the mouse i bought when i was about 13. i am now 18 and have been developing games for about 7 years now. i love this mouse. it lasted me 5 years of VERY heavy use. 8+ hours a day of use for about 5 years is a lot to ask of a piece of tech. it was up to it.

the mouse:
scroll wheel is comfy and smooth. the mouse wheel lean is really nice as well.(you can press the scroll wheel to the side to scroll sideways)
mouse is super comfy and matches my hand perfectly. however this may be due to the fact i've used the mouse for 5 years.
Gamers: do not be fooled by the fact its wireless. most wireless mice have a deley on them due to the wireless nature. this does not. its more responsive than most wired mice are. (take with a grain of salt however. i have used this mouse for years it may just be main brain has adjusted to it, however i remember when i got it i was impressed with the responsive nature of the mouse).
Side buttons: these are the best side buttons i have worked with. they require you to lift your thumb or pinky activate. i have never pressed these on accident. most side buttons have the problem of being easy to press by accident with a reflexive hand squeeze. never had that problem with these. they are also bound to back and forward in web browsers.(last page and next page) which is super convenient when web browsing.
Battery life: its good. lasts for months on a single set of batteries. you will need to have a pack of batteries handy though. when it dies, it dies. no warning other than about a second of stutter. if your playing a game when this happens... your boned... that is all.

TLDR: best wireless mouse i have ever used. if you use a computer a lot(professional work, surfing the web, etc...). this is the best mouse i can recommend.

Solved the Intermittent Signal Problem

I own four of these mice, and at some point it WILL start acting like the signal is choppy... you'll move the mouse and the cursor will lag, act choppy or not even respond (disregard the Low Signal errors that pop up, I don't believe those). Here's how I got this mouse to cruise: run it on only one battery. Pull the AA battery that's farthest from the laser hole. For some of my PCs, that works (all running Win7 64-bit). BTW, I'll assume you're running the latest version of IntelliPoint. But for my main desktop, this mouse was still acting up. I got a small 4-port powered USB hub (meaning it has a power supply), this Belkin Ultra-Slim Series 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub (F4U040v) actually through Amazon Vine, and lo and behold, plugging the egg-shaped receiver for the mouse into this solved the problem!

So there are your two ways to get this mouse to work smoothly. For my big hands these mice are great, to me all of the fuss is worth it. If it didn't take all this fuss I'd give it 5 stars, but for such a low cost I'll continue to use these, nothing I've tried fits my hands better.

Annoying oversensitive side buttons need stronger springs

CONS: Springs under the two side buttons are way too weak. I find myself inadvertently clicking them while trying to just move the mouse. Problem is compounded by the spring under the scroll wheel button being too hard. You need to hold the mouse tight to be able to click the scroll wheel button, which usually results in clicking one or both side buttons at the same time.

PROS: Side scroll action (being able to side-scroll web pages, spreadsheets, etc.) by pushing the scroll wheel sideways is helpful. Mouse's physical design is great. It fits both right and left hands nicely (good for left handed and/or ambidextrous users).

I would have given it 5 stars if it had not been for those weak side-button springs.

3/25/2011 update: Scroll wheel had become progressively harder to turn in the last couple of weeks. Applying silicon spray lubricant did not help. Junked mouse when it became impossible to turn the scroll wheel without clicking it. Time in service: 1 year 8 months 7 days.

It is basically a mouse with an EXTRA WIRED mouse

Be careful before making your purchase. Amazon has not put 100% effort in describing this mouse. As usual, this Wireless mouse comes with a signal receiver too but that receiver in itself is an another Wired mouse. So, instead of getting rid of wires, you get more of it. Here is how I can explain it in better terms.

Generally, Wireless mouse comes with nano or Pen Drive like small receivers which are comfortable to carry. Most of the time you can just let them remain attached to the laptop which is actually convenient. But, the receiver of this mouse is of same size as an another mouse. Even the shape is same. Moreover, this receiver has a wire which is almost a meter long. All these issues in total makes this mouse-receiver set a highly uncomfortable one. It directly impacts your portability. As a student, every time I have to first disconnect the receiver and then create some extra space in my backpack to carry it. It is so annoying.

Adding to the misery, the installation disk sent with this mouse doesn't work on Windows 7. But your mouse will still work. The thing is you cannot customize its buttons (and this is one of the features why anyone will actually purchase it, at least I did). But luckily, after using it for 2 days somehow Windows Update downloaded the required installation software and then only I get to customize this mouse.

Talking about the "mouse" only, then yes it is definitely a good mouse. The grip is really good, its comfortable. It looks good too. The click and the roller is smooth.

So, before making a purchase please be conscious and do some extra search on internet just to get an idea of the "Extra Wired" mouse.
