Good rich and hot

Of course how 'hot' a sauce is is a subjective matter, but objectively speaking this is a rich and warm sauce. Since it's not mixed with carrots, sugar, lime and the like, you
taste pure habanero. The sauce is hotter than most habanero sauces that are adulterated but is in no way obnoxious-I-dare-you-to-try this hot. No doubt the heat and taste of the
pepper comes through but so does that of the food you're putting it on. Highly recommended for those who like real heat and flavor without resorting to mouth-numbing
over the top concoctions.

For a product labeled simply "habanero pepper sauce", this is the hottest I've encountered - no fillers like carrots or lime juice to dilute the heat but no pepper extracts to jack it up, either. Just plain habanero as the label reads.

And it is hot - as a point of comparison, if you are familiar with Melinda's line of hot sauce, it is hotter than anything Melinda's sells (with the exception of the Naja Jolokia "ghost pepper" hot sauce which is as about as hot as you can get without pepper extracts).

I applied this sauce liberally to a piece of pizza and was literally wiping the tears from my eyes while I was eating (and hyperventilating at the same time to expel the heat - but in a good way). Rinse, repeat.

My only minor gripe is that the sauce is thick and comes in a glass bottle with a very narrow neck - it can be a little tricky getting the desired amount of sauce to pour. That said, recommended.

Just got this so may update later. Hard to open - have to fight a plastic safety wrapper with a knife, but the cork can be levered out with a knife without much drama.

The cork is cute but it may tend to transfer pepper to your fingers. The bottle neck is very tight for the thickness of the sauce so the struggle is ongoing. Also it's tall and narrow so might be a knock-over problem.

Not very much sauce for the price after shipping -- pretty steep, really.

UPDATE:

Really tasty in a can of black beans - the bottle looks like I used about a tablespoon for the can but it seemed a lot less than that as I put it on, perhaps a teaspoon. So it looks like it will go pretty fast. around 8-10 meals, I think -- making this pretty expensive hot sauce.

The bottle is indeed a complete pain; falls over at the drop of a hat, and it's hard to get the sauce out, and the cork is messy. This deserves a short covered bowl with a small condiment spoon.

Here's why I am reviewing it right away -- I put some on my finger to taste and it's very, very good so far - warm, rich, and smokey. Lingering heat.

So tasty, but heartbreaking that the bottle is so impractical. This is a fantastic sauce thats great for adding habanero flavor without altering the taste of the food. Its exactly what I've been looking for. Its thick and not vinergary- perfect.
Unfortunately, I think it was intended just for decoration. The tight bottle neck and the way the mouth of the bottle open up, cause a lot of sauce to get stuck on top and get very messy resulting in a lot of wasted product. Its also hard to control flow- its in on par with struggling with a glass ketchup bottle and have a whole lot suddenly plop out. Which, at $9+ a bottle makes it not worth it. That flappy shield thing was annoying too.

Guys, you have a fantastic sauce- improving the bottle design is a good idea.

Strong Habanero Flavor, Significant Heat

These four ounce bottles should last most people quite some time, as the heat is sufficient to preclude most from pouring it on everything. The preservatives are salt then vinegar, and no refrigeration is identified on bottle.

In many respects this can be compared to its weaker cousin, using more vinegar than salt as a preservative Louisiana, Sauce, Habanero Hot, 3-Ounce; both employ the same key ingredients, in differing quantities. The Red Savina is more salty and milder vinegar than the Louisiana brand. The Red Savina has a much stronger fruity habanero flavor profile I desired, as well as a higher heat content.

Many reviewers cite the sauce as being thick and note the cork stopper is not their desired method of closure; I concur. However, I consider the bottle, label, and cork to be stylish.

I had hoped for a stronger habanero profile, given they are major ingredient; to preclude losing the flavor during additions to jerk seasonings. I wish they could reduce the salt content further, perhaps more testing would allow for reductions in both vinegar and salt content.

I did not deduct for cost, because habanero peppers are expensive. Clearly significant quantities of peppers were used to produce each bottle. Further, this may be the only company to remove the seeds before processing...making the heat more manageable; along with not adding polluting fillers/additives.

Hotter than my Ghost Pepper powder

Red Savina is the ONLY habanero for those who LOVE the heat. I especially enjoy knowing that this habanero sauce does not contain extra flavors - this is 100% ONLY habanero. It does taste hotter than a 100% ghost pepper power I also own - maybe it is because it is a powder - I do not know.

My only complaint is that the sauce is THICK and the neck of the bottle is so incredibly narrow. This WILL NOT flow out of the bottle. You have to hit the bottom to get it to spurt out, which can be a bit messy.

It does come in a beautiful bottle wrapped in a leather strap that adds to its value as a gift item. Unlike many other hot sauces, the "top" for this is just a cork. While the cork looks great and adds to the dining experience, the bad side of this is when you travel with it you are always afraid that the cork will loosen and spill out onto everything around it. The cork also makes a crusty mess when it is placed back into the neck. However, as long as it is wiped off each time you re-cork it, it is not too bad. But, some sauce is wasted this way.

Very good for those few of us who add spice to EVERYTHING including cukes! Red Savina is simply the best that the habanero plant has to offer. I bought this on July 18 2013, and I have already enjoyed more than half the bottle. It is so tasty that it will not last as long as you can stand the heat.
