Great flavor but mild for a Naga Jolokia hot sauce

I am a heat junkie with a preference for Naga Jolokia hot sauces. I have tried numerous Naga Jolokia hot sauces, including Dave's Ghost Pepper, The Ghost Hot Suace, and the Tropical Pepper Company Naga Jolokia.

Out of all the Naga Jolokia sauces I have tried, this one has the best flavor. The Naga Jolokia hot sauces tend to have a bitter and astringent flavor. This sauce brings out a much more mild, smooth flavor that I really enjoy.

The downside of this sauce is that it isn't that hot for a Naga Jolokia sauce. Many of the other reviewers rave about how scorching this hot sauce is, but in my experience this is by far the mildest Naga Jolokia sauce I've had. I still use it a lot because I love the flavor, but I go through it at least 5 times faster than the other Naga Jolokia sauces since I use so much of it to try and hit a decent heat level.

I bought 3 different brands of ghost pepper sauce for my husband to compare. He's a connoisseur of hot foods and sauces. He likes lots of heat, but lots flavor too. For instance, he eats fresh, raw jalapenos whole, as a snack. Hands down, the flavor of Melinda's beat out the 2 others. It isn't quite as hot as Dave's, but he doesn't want just plain hot with nothing else. He loves the flavor of Melinda's, and I'm even using it (very sparingly, lol). A couple drops in a bowl of soup adds something really special. My husband pours it on his eggs and anything else he thinks might need a boost. It really is delicious - and hot! Not THE hottest, but THE BEST!

I have been a fan of Melinda's brand of hot sauce for sometime now and I am always searching for different sauces to try. I bought a bottle of the Naga Jolokia flavor and I like it. It's spicy and it has a nice flavor. This sauce would appeal more to those who like pretty spicy sauces. Anyone who is a fan of Melinda's should give this a try.

Ghost cousin from India? Yeah. Leave it to Melinda's to find the best version of a pepper and blend it with fruit and vegetables to really bring out the flavors of that pepper. Blows away any other "ghost" on the market... including their own!

This hot sauce is my current favorite. Naga Jolokia is Ghost Pepper. It is H-O-T. This is similar to Dave's Insanity but it is much more flavorful. That's what I like about Melinda's is that it has some actual flavor instead of just pure out hot. I would rate this (like Firehouse subs) at 8/10 on the heat scale. If you like HOT give this a try. If you're less adventuresome try the Melinda's XXX habanero -- that's not bad and more like a 4-5/10.

We just love Melinda's Naga Jolokia hot sauce.
Perfect amount of heat, balanced by fruit and vegetable juices (like carrot, lime...) so there's not too much vinegar. It's a very hot pepper, so you don't need as much of it (or vinegar with the other fruit and vegetable juices).

The vinegar doesn't overpower the other flavors in your cooking. Four or Five drops in a pretty big bowl of chili and you've got a really nice background heat, and wonderful hot pepper flavor.

Lasts a long time as long as you refrigerate after opening.

So many hot sauces try to be as hot as possible but end up sacrificing flavor in the process. Melinda's seems to have found the golden ratio here with this. Amazing flavor with just the right amount of heat. Do yourself a favor and add this to your collection. I will definitely be buying again.
