This is my first pricer keyboard. I did a lot of research and learned about the Cherry MX blue, brown, blacks. Basically the Blues are for typist, Blacks for gamers, Browns are for users that do a little of both. All are super precise and astoundingly great keyboard switch keys. The Blues and Blacks are really for "extremists" and tend to sacrifice other features for their primary intended purpose, and as a result feel hard to use for any other purpose. Browns are universally the most popular for people who use only one keyboard, based on several opinions online.

The Filco comes in three models so you can pick the keys switches that you want. The style and design is "precise" the weight of the keyboard is heavy due to a solid metal interior plate to which the key switches are attached. The plate is encased in a tough plastic exterior.

Key caps on top of the switches are "cylindrical" or "sculpted" to help keep your finger tips on the keys, and let you know when your touching the keys solidly as opposed to sliding left or right and possibly hitting other keys by mistake.

The "F" and the "J" keys have home row "bumps" to help touch typists find the home row without looking at the keyboard.

The key cap font is very slightly "Italic" or slanted to the right, you probably wouldn't notice if many review sites hadn't pointed it out. The print on the key caps is embossed or printed on top of the key cap plastic, it doesn't feel or look Laser Etched, its not raised high enough to really notice unless your looking for it.

The Backspace is full length. The Enter key is normal full length, the enter key is not "extended" or "two stories high" and it is not "vertical".Read more ›

Great board for work. After purchasing a coworker also went mechanical but went with a Cherry Red based board. The person sitting next to me never complained about my board yet noticed the other person's new keyboard almost immediately.

Highly recommend the brown switches for those in a work environment, looking for something to ease hand pains, or just looking for a quiet keyboard. I'd recommend this Filco specifically if you want something that provides the ergonomic benefits of the soft MX switch without the casual/unprofessional look of gaming keyboards.

The keycaps will feel different if you're coming from a laptop or traditional kb. These keys seem more concave and your finger tips really seem to snug into a valley so to speak. Grip is excellent as a result though you will have to adjust to this. Another adjustment to make is the travel of the keys. This switch (Cherry Brown) will register a key stroke about half through it's travel. You can use it very gently and still not miss a stroke. This is useful for easing finger pains for heavy users as well as keeping the noise down as most of the clack on this board will come from smashing the keys hard enough to bottom out.

For you adults looking for a quality typing experience without getting into all the extra stuff this is the way to go. 4/5 only because of the bang to buck ratio. You can get mechanical boards for less money that offer more in the way of features. Volume/media controls would be nice or the price could go down a bit to reflect the feature set of the board. Still happy with it, justified the premium by having a board that looks, feels, and sounds suitable for the workplace.

This is a Filco keyboard with cherry MX brown switches, which have a slight tactile bump but no clicking noise. There will still be a "clacking" noise when/if the keys bottom out and hit the base of the keyboard while you are typing. These feel much better than your typical rubber membrane keyboard and are built like a tank.

You can find plenty of other websites that go into detail comparing the various types of mechanical keyboard switches (Geekhack, Deskthority), so the only other thing I will add is that I bought this keyboard from The Keyboard Co's Amazon storefront that has fulfillment via Amazon and ships from the US. The only problem is that these keyboards are almost always out of stock on The Keyboard Co's Amazon store. If you want to buy one of these and happen to see that they are in stock here, buy it immediately because it will likely go out of stock again very soon.

You can also buy directly from The Keyboard Co's own website: [...] It is priced in GBP and ships from the UK, but the price can still be comparable to what you would pay in USD on Amazon depending on the exchange rate (right now the dollar is fairly strong). Just make sure your credit card doesn't have any foreign transaction fees.

Beautiful, weighty, solid keyboard. The cherry browns are a perfect blend between tactile and auditory feedback, without being "super clicky" (not that I've tried the blues, mind). No frills - I didn't want LED lighting and media keys - so if these are important to you, look elsewhere. Like most keyboards these days, it doesn't come with a built-in wrist rest, but that allows you to add your own, which I recommend.

All in all a wonderful upgrade from those mushy membrane keyboards.
