Air Con: The Seriously Inconvenient Truth About Global Warming Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 78 ratings

JUST $2.99 for a limited time, the #1 climate change bestseller (text includes the 'Climategate' update)

Review
Air Con demonstrates, with hundreds of scientific references, that global warming was not, is not, and will not be a global crisis; that, even if per impossibile it might be, it is far more cost-effective to adapt as and if needed than to attempt to mitigate 'global warming' by cutting emissions of carbon dioxide; and that all attempts at mitigation would serve only to imprison the very poorest in their poverty, thereby perversely increasing world population and consequently the 'carbon footprint' of humankind, achieving an outcome precisely the opposite of that which was (however piously) intended.

The UN, Mikhail Gorbachev, Jacques Chirac, and other world-government wannabes are plotting to establish nothing less than a global, bureaucratic-centralist dictatorship under the pretext that it is necessary to 'Save The Planet'.

Ian Wishart's book demonstrates that there is not the slightest scientific reason for the new, quasi-religious belief that The Planet needs Saving. The new religion is merely an excuse for world government. World government will not, repeat not, be democratic government.

The 'global warming' debate is not really a debate about climatology - it is a debate about freedom. It is the aim of the growing world-government faction among the international classe politique to take away our hard-won freedom and democracy forever.
I commend this timely book, which makes the scientific arguments comprehensible to the layman. Those who read it will help to forestall the new Fascists and so to keep us free. --Lord Christopher Monckton, Viscount of Brenchley, former scientific advisor to Margaret Thatcher --Christopher Monckton, Viscount of Brenchley

I started reading this book with an intensely critical eye, expecting that a mere journalist could not possibly cope with the complexities of climate science ... [But] He gives chapter and verse for almost everything he says.

The book is brilliant. The best I have seen which deals with the news item side of it as well as the science. He has done a very thorough job and I have no hesitation in unreserved commendation. It has come along at the time we most need it and I hope it is published and publicized widely. --Dr Vincent Gray, UN IPCC expert reviewer

This book by New Zealand journalist Ian Wishart a #1 bestselling author four times, surprised me by the completeness with which he reviewed and presents alternatives to the plethora of IPCC inspired spin and publicity which floods our media today.

His sixteen chapters examining aspects of the debate are meticulously footnoted and thus are a valuable reference resource for those wishing to dig deeper or keep up to speed with the unfolding global warming / carbon reduction political drama in years to come. --Dr Warwick Hughes, climatologist

Excellent…Ian Wishart's book Air Con is…more approachable for the non-scientific reader, and whilst including enough essential science to gain a good understanding of the issues, concentrates more on the political aspects of the global warming debate, including how the global warming industry has tried (unsuccessfully) to shut down any criticism of the consensus, and exposes the scientific skulduggery that often goes on to perpetuate global warming alarmism. ACM highly recommends…essential reading - Australian Climate Madness --Australian Climate Madness

Ian Wishart's AIR CON is another masterpiece of scientific reason, letting the thinking world know that so-called man-made global warming is the greatest scam ever aimed at humanity.

Please read this book. - Professor David Bellamy, England --Professor David Bellamy, England

Two excellent new books to cheer the sceptic's soul, Heaven + Earth - Global Warming: The Missing Science by Professor Ian Plimer and Air Con by Ian Wishart. These two publications approach the global warming debate from different directions, but end up complementing each other very well.
Ian Plimer's book is a thorough look at the science of global warming. As a geologist, Professor Plimer is perfectly placed to put the current climate change debate in the context of the history of the planet.

By contrast, Ian Wishart's book Air Con is a little more approachable for the non-scientific reader, and whilst including enough essential science to gain a good understanding of the issues, concentrates more on the political aspects of the global warming debate, including how the global warming industry has tried (unsuccessfully) to shut down any criticism of the consensus, and exposes the scientific skulduggery that often goes on to perpetuate global warming alarmism. ACM highly recommends both books as essential reading for those who wish to gain a more detailed understanding of the climate change debate - Australian Climate Madness --Australian Climate Madness

Ian Wishart is a multi-award winning investigative journalist and bestselling author of more than 20 books, who's now in his fourth decade in the news business. His writing style has often been compared to John Grisham by reviewers.

He's been a radio News Director, a Chief of Staff for TV3 News and a magazine editor. His work has featured in the Times of London, Daily Mail, New Zealand Herald and America's massive Coast to Coast radio programme - to name a few. His books Totalitaria, Air Con and Vitamin D became Amazon bestsellers worldwide.

While writing his first book, The Paradise Conspiracy, Wishart's TVNZ office was discovered to have been bugged, his home was broken into, the manuscript for the book stolen, and an attempt was made on his life. Needless to say, he survived to write the story.

The first four chapters of The Paradise Conspiracy inspired movie director Geoff Murphy ("Young Guns II", "Under Siege 2") to produce the movie "Spooked" starring Cliff Curtis ("Runaway Jury", "Live Free or Die Hard") in a loose portrayal of Wishart's role as an investigative journalist.

He's been shot at, tear-gassed and stalked, but Wishart says his motivation remains telling the stories that "need to be told", whether its new leads on cold case murders, or government espionage.

New Zealand journalist Ian Wishart has written a truly excellent book, Air Con, on the global warming hoax. Mr. Wishart's book describes most of the science related to the anthropogenic global warming hypothesis in a very readable and accessible manner. Moreover Mr. Wishart's book is extremely well referenced, with references to many scientific articles. Often these articles are found on the internet, with the internet addresses provided by Mr. Wishart.

Mr. Wishart demonstrates the false science and data of the global warming alarmists. He describes the thoroughly refuted hockey stick of Michael Mann, the often bogus data offered by sections of NASA, and false statements on the melting of Greenland glaciers among other mendacity. Mr. Wishart uses this false information as a basis of his refutation of the anthropogenic global warming hypothesis. He states: "If data is faked or twisted, and can be proven so, then the credibility of those responsible is in doubt.'

Mr. Wishart then dissects the science pertaining to global warming. He begins with an extremely useful section on jargon. This alone can help the average reader see through some climate alarmist obfuscation. His book also includes a very useful summary of the scientific case against the anthropogenic global warming hypothesis. Mr. Wishart spotlights the often false science behind the global warming hoax such as the Mann hockey stick. He examines the strong possible natural causes of the planet warming in the last century such as the fluctuation of the solar magnetic field, and solar irradiance, and the El Nino ocean currents in the Pacific Ocean. He discusses the vertical shift of the continental tectonic plates. Mr. Wishart in great detail relates that current fears about anthropogenic global warming such as sea level rises and polar and Greenland glacier melting are unfounded. He relates the drastic past changes in the earth's climate and temperature from snowball planet to the Cretaceous period hothouse. The recent century warming trend is far from abnormal. He also divulges that the atmospheric carbon dioxide in the recent millenniums of the earth's geological history is actually at a low level, the lowest level since the Permian period 251 million years ago. In the Mesozoic era the carbon dioxide level was 1200 to 1800 ppm (parts per million). Yet life on earth flourished in the dinosaur era.

In recent times the earth's climate has also changed without anthropogenic global warming. There were warm periods in the Roman warm era around 500BC and Meieival Optimum around 1000AD with temperatures several degrees above today. Temperatures were degrees lower in the little Ice Age circa 1680AD when crop failure and starvation occurred in Europe.

To this reader there are several new discoveries in Mr. Wishart's book I have not found in other books on global warming. Mr. Wishart actually provides some quantitative information on the solar magnetic field. He states this magnetic field more than doubled and provides the reference. Thus he refutes the climate alarmists who claim falsely that the solar output has changed very little lately. Mr. Wishart relates how undersea volcanoes have caused ice melting in the artic areas. He divulges that polar ice caps still existed in the Cretaceous Thermal Maximum Temperature era when earth temperatures were much higher than those today.

In sum this book is an impressive refutation of the claim of anthropogenic global warming. The book is a must read for everyone.

This book makes no secret of its proposition that anthropogenic global warming is a conspiracy. It is informative and blunt. Frankly, I don't know whether to be a sceptic or a believer in relation to climate change. This book gave me plenty of ammunition should I choose to be a sceptic or conspiracy theorist but did little to present a balanced view. Maybe I'm just a bit green and want to use wind and solar energy (complete with government subsidies) to reduce my energy costs...

I have been on a heavy reading jag covering all sides of the 'Global Warming' - Climate Change' fiasco and if it wasn't so sicken it would be laughable. Next to S. Fred Smith Ian Wishart is the most readable expert that can really make climatology comprehensible and keep the faith with the scientific evidence, which he doesn't hesitate in giving credit where it's due. He deals with the complexities of the science and the almost overwhelming aray of statistics in such a un-agenda driven clarity that it was hard to put down. Air Con also blends the political aspects of the anthropogenic 'climate change' with the scientific and emotonal quasi-religious beliefs into a coherent whole that's understandable.
In short I thought it was just GREAT.

The book is well-written and has very good documentation--not one of those books that lists vague comments by unnamed sources. I use the book as a reference for refuting the claims of climate change believers. An excellent book.

It may also open the eyes of those who blindly followed the climate change scam without actually looking at the evidence and what was being said.

This is a book that everyone must read with an open mind.

I use to be mildly pro-global warming, but over time, seeing the many dissenting voices crudely silenced by the media and politicians, I smelt a rat.

My own research demonstrated how easily the so-called "evidence of global warming" melted away to reveal deeper agendas. Ian Wishart's excellent research confirms what I have personally discovered.

I note that the negative reviews of his book on this site offer no sensible rebuttals. Just the typical condescension that the Global Warming religionists snootily spray at anyone daring to disagree. Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Good summary of all the research and work that we hear so little about due to the government's muzzling of science to further their relentless taxation agenda. Some good notes on how to keep the "Climatistas" (my word) from stealing the agenda and justifying their taxation on a mythology.

Was soll man nun tun?

Ian Wishart joins that increasing list of reasonable people
who are questioning the 'settled science' on Global Warming
or, as it has become due to recent temperature falls, Climate Change.

The incompetent "science" being carried out is staggering.
Computer models that don't work. Research data being ignored if
it does not fit the model. Scientists being ignored if they
don't 'tow-the-line".

Never mind the facts let's get a good headline !!

The biased guesswork and 'tweaked data' being forwarded by the IPCC to Governments
as fact is staggering. All of it is quite easily torn to shreds
in this excellent book.

Just as I was wondering how they were getting away with it in the light of
the truth being so available and how could our leaders be so gullible
it became clear that they are
mostly all in on it !!

Think of them all now as Tax Collectors in green suits.

The mother of all taxes is on the way if 'Copenhagen' goes through, and because it's for the
good of the planet you will all be willing to pay anything to stop
the polar bears from melting..or whatever.
This is an excellent way of making the UN (and Al Gore's carbon traders)
masters of the planet and rich beyond imagination. It will do nothing for the
planet; it will carry on warming up and cooling down as it has for
millions of years, along with the Polar Bears.

From Chapter 16 you will feel a chill run down YOUR spine, and it
has nothing to do with climate and everything to do with big business
and governmental control.
