The first season of Face Off was outstandingly original and showcased some remarkable amateur make-up and special effects talent across the country. Featuring a wide range of techniques from latex foam pouring to clay modeling and body spraying, competitors went through a broad variety of different challenges, often producing commercially-viable and film-ready creations.

The second season follows the same format as the first but my only disappointment is that the creativity and quality falls short of the previous group. There are some stand-out individuals who are quite likely to reach the last couple of episodes but some of the contestants don't display the necessary skills and have survived elimination rounds way too long.

Still, for any movie or makeup fan, Face Off provides an interesting insight into special effects. Although the emphasis is unfortunately on personality and drama, there's enough coverage of the techniques involved to keep me as a fan.

This is another great season of this show. Building on from season 1 they have managed to get rid of the slightly uncomfortable step of the challenge winner saying who could go home. There are good quality artists throughout the show and the challenges remain interesting and actually challenge the artists in a good way.

Once again the best person won in the end, and the end challenge was thrilling. I will definitely be looking for season 3

I love this show. I discovered this show last year so I am working my way back from the current season to the beginning. I liked this season better than season one because they started changing the style of the show and decreased the personal drama type of things that are so prevalent in reality shows. This show just gets better every season. The talent is amazing.

Great show. What reality competition should look like, real talent, no drama, great work. Challenges are innovative and exciting and the judges, unlike a lot of similar shows, give productive feedback based on real life experience in the craft. Highly recommend.

Season 1 hooked me and season 2 continues to entertain and impress me. I love the talent and creativity of the contestants and really love seeing the finished products. I've mentioned before in my ratings for the other seasons that it is a TV competition, and as with the others this one also has the ridiculous "commercial break cliff hangers". These are more noticeable when you buy the season as you are obviously not getting the commercials with it. So just be prepared to gloss over the "dramatic" cliff-hangers and return from commercial re-hash and you'll be set ;)

I purchased this series because I have an interest in special effects makeup and wanted to see what the series was about. The series catches your attention and makes you realize how creative the special effects people are in the movies and TV. I learned some new techniques (and some things NOT to do) and felt it was worth the price. Looking forward to seeing if there is a season 3 in this series. A fun series to watch and you catch yoursel rooting for your favorite competitor(s) on the show.

Our favorite reality series! The contestants are there to win, but don't back stab or cause any additional stress or drama than what the show's producers put on them. They are fun professionals who really love what they do, and their passion is contagious! Can't wait for Season 9 to begin on July 28, 2015 so had to get these to tie us over until then.

My favorite series. Only problem is the video quality even in HD was comparable to old VHS quality. Not sure why. But the series remains captivating, and it was fun to see how much it has evolved since first going on the air.
