The book was a breath of fresh air to my library, it has depth and character that I have not enjoyed in sometime. I recommend this book and think you will read it quickly as this author has the ability to give life, character and intelligence to his story.
It's been a while since I have read a book that I did not want to put down and finished it in a couple of days, this book held my attention and was totally enjoyable, the characters were well described and intelligent. I could feel the good and evil in this story, I found the storyline was different but the author was very successful in bringing it to life. I will be looking forward to this series.

In all honesty, this is more of a 4 2/3 Star rating, as some of the language came across very Scrabble-worthy, meaning you want to challenge it to look up the meaning of a word that is never, ever used in any conversations. But other than the obscure sciencee verbiage (see what I did there?) the book was interesting, fresh and great for anyone 10 years old (with a dictionary) and up. I don't need to tell you about the storyline, other than it is smooth and stays on track, or the characters, other than they are interesting and they developer nicely, because I think that if you are intelligent enough to look at reviews before purchasing a book, you know what to look for. This book is good. The writing is concise, the editing is good, the storyline flows and the language is clean. I will be purchasing the next book in this series and will most likely recommend this book to my daughter's Middle School Media Specialist to purchase for their shelves (I am a Volunteer/Sub there). I hope you enjoy this book!

This story is set in our world, but seems otherworldly. It takes on issues we deal with now and shows them in another
setting. Dealing with people who are different from us and who have different interests and abilities is something all of us can relate to. This plot takes that theme to a whole new level and does it creatively and with class. I look forward to the future tales.
No bad language. No sex scenes. Sweet tender moments.
Appropriate for preteens and up. There is some violence that should be addressed with younger reader's.

I loved this book! I saw a few people gave it a one star all I can say is there is no accounting for taste. I want to work two day in a row so tired I couldn't get out of my own way. I could not put it down. I did the one chapter that all avid readers understand. It had a well Developed store line. I loved the Characters. I can't wait to get started on Liam Donnelly's next book in the series. And I'll be getting on that as soon as I get caught up on my sleep.

I am not a big fan of fantasy, and this isn't far removed from it, but I still quite enjoyed the story. The author's description of the psychic experience made it almost feel familiar somehow. If I were one of the characters now released from detention I would want to test my abilities. How big a rock could I pick up? How far could I reach? If I could fly, has far and fast?

A seemingly simple tale of a rise in population of psionic warriors. Knowing they are being pursued because of their gifts, it almost was a relief when they were caught and put in the New York facility. When Jane came and suddenly all their gifts were enhanced. Max, the other worldly spirit keeps popping in just when they need his help and finding out just what he is and why he's helping, seems terribly important.

LD has written a SyFy novel of paranormals and how they can and will effect the Earth. The time and location is the near future. This is the time the paranormals have gained attention to themselves and one or two know how to hide the signs and they attempt to help the others worldwide. This is an excellent read for the genre..... ER

At first, it seemed that this was yet another of those formulaic YA titles. However, to my great surprise, the story accelerated like a speeding train making it hard to put down. The best recommendation? I just purchased the second book within 2 minutes of finishing the first. Jane and Max are intriguing characters!

A Great Read

A thoroughly enjoyable story about Jane, a young girl with psychic powers who is called an Ethereal. There are many other interesting characters throughout the book, characters with very intriguing psychic abilities, and a great bad guy too! Looking forward to seeing how their story develops in the follow up book.
I would recommend this book to all ages as it has a universal appeal, and certainly for readers who are more 'ethereally' minded. Give it a go. Once you become emerged in the story you'll find it very absorbing.

Good fantasy

Maybe a little slow to start, but this fantasy had great elements - powers, various interesting characters and a villain!
The writing style was good, the story intriguing and it was enjoyable.
Worth reading.

Sometimes an author spends too long setting the scene. Here is one such instance... I got bored with the scene setting before I could even start the story. The writing style was ponderous... sorry, just not for me.

Brilliant book!
Really got sucked into it once I started and couldn't put it down. There's a stonker of a cliff hanger at the end and I'm waiting patiently for the next instalment to find out what happens.
I'm not a big sci-fi fan but this had me on the edge of my seat. Started imagining who would play what character if it became a film!
A real gripper of a book!

A different take on the development of PSI powers and some resulting problems. Quite a few questions left unanswered so clearly a series coming here, I'll await the next volume with interest.
