Read the original, first hand, non-fiction and only authoritative account of the CIA’s MENA Arkansas Operation and CIA operative Barry Seal’s murder…told from the inside.
Terry Reed’s New York Times best selling book not only shocked the nation by detailing the inside workings of a White House backed guns for drugs covert operation run amuck, but also led to a sophisticated CIA disinformation operation that spawned an entire subculture of investigative reporter “wanta-bes” who went for the bait and muddied the water of one of America’s best kept scandals.
Read for yourself why the government labeled Terry and his wife Janis “Armed and Dangerous” and wanted them dead and why Pablo Escobar had Barry Seal assassinated…or did he?

- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2024Great read for understanding what happened during the Iran-Contra Affair, the CIA, President Reagan, and USMC Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2024The best part of this book is the author's storyline, which is the extensive Reed professional, personal, and family narrative accompanying this insider's story of the Iran-Contra affair and more. In particular, the author enables readers to envision incredible details by reading between the lines of the covert operations and legal rangling deep into their core. With the author's immersive style, the reader becomes an investigator in their own right. I attribute the book's compelling narrative to Reed's trained professional memory, attention to detail, and Cummings's professional writing skills.
Additionally, the lengthy narrative may appear dull to some readers. In that case, a Kindle keyword search using Mena, Arkansas, and Iran-Contra's well-known names (famous and infamous) will reveal a wealth of insider knowledge concerning some of the most tumultuous events in modern US history. Readers will find the most revealing revelation within the book's timeline on page 835 (Kindle version), well after Reed's acquittal on the fabricated federal mail fraud charges. Without spoiling the surprise, the true identity of the man whose alias was Robert Johnson tells a story all on its own.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2024Read this several years ago as friend recommended & thought it was a great book. Reading again - we’re screwed as our government is so corrupt if any of this is true (and no I’m not a MAGA supporter or into conspiracy theories)
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2022This was a large book. Usually in books this voluminous, you have repetition and boring information dry spots consisting of minutiae. Not this book. It read like a spy mystery, but the events were as real as the people. It kept me engaged; and was thoughtfully organized and well written.
But in the end, there was no justice.
Great book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2013COMPROMISED is written in a novelistic style (like James Mills' THE UNDERGROUND EMPIRE). Of course it's impossible for anyone to remember every word of dialogue in every conversation years after the events. So I'm sure there is a certain amount of artistic license in recreating those scenes. There is also way too much technical information about aircraft for the non-enthusiast, and a lot of things about Reed's personal life that I wasn't interested in.
Still, sift through all of that and you'll find many insights into the shadowy parts of the US government that have been operating at least since the 1940s. The big money to be made in the illegal economy of drug smuggling, money laundering and gun-running; the corruption of every institution that gets involved; the idea that "anti-communism" (or the "war on terrorism") justifies just about any kind of behavior.
"Are you a Republican or a Democrat?"
"I am a political atheist. I work for the CIA."
"What does that mean?"
"That means Agency is politics. Agency is the government. Everything else is just puppets, a big game, Terry-san. You did not know that?"
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2019Thanks Terry Reed for this book . It the age old story absolute power corrupts absolutely . We the People have given those in government too much power cause we want to be lazy and not run Our Country . Well as Terry found out the real hard way you cant play with rattlesnakes and not expect not to get bit . Direct Democracy We the People know what best for Our nation and We vote on issues . No more secret meetings , backroom dealings , secret organizations that really work just for the elites . True Freedom we do things the right way in accordance with the morals and values Our Country was founded on. Not the left handed way , the easy way , the seductive way that will always take you into a ditch .
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2015One of the best political books I have ever read. Could not put it down, got watery eye's reflecting on what Terry Reed and his family went through. Sheds a lot of light on Barry Seal, gives a good insight as to why Barry may have been murdered. Fills in a lot of the pieces into Felix Rodriquez and Luis Posada; I was particularly interested in the info on Felix Rodriquez as he is connected so closely with figures from the JFK assassination, his VERY close ties to GHW Bush, just another reminder of how dirty Bush really is, a high criminal. Stunning revelations on Bill Clinton. Bought another book from reading Compromised by L.D. Brown, one of Clinton's most important Arkansas State Police officers, (the book is called CROSSFIRE). A must read especially in light of Hillary maybe running for President.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2022A tale of a.brave family, who go against government trying to prove they're rightful, a honest CIA agent who discovers dirt that American government was doing in the name of National security. Tremendous story, sometimes you think you're reading a Spy novel a James Paterson best seller.

Few challenge the CIA and live to tell the tale. Terry Reed is one of the bravest whistleblowers ever to expose the fraudulent War on Drugs. In this detailed insider's account, Terry exposes the complicity of the Bush and Clinton crime families and the CIA in importing cocaine. For revealing the truth, Terry suffered near lethal consequences. His book and testimony on YouTube transformed my worldview about the War on Drugs and inspired me to research and write a series of books on the subject.

I read this book whilst in America in 1998 and again in 2016. It proves Clintons and Bush are the very worst crooks in USA and how rabid the CIA is.
