A fantastic book if you love animals

I'm not completely done with this book but it's one of the most interesting animal related books I've read in recent memory. I love how the author turns conventional wisdom on its ear when it comes to species both well known and obscure. There is so much humor and wonder in it. Reading this book is a reminder of just how phenomenal and amazing our world is. I will certainly read any other books she has authored and hope she focuses her lens on many other species in the future. She's my new favorite non fiction author. I'm not a trained scientist but I don't detect any of the hyperbole or questionable assertions that turn me off in other books.

I finished the book and it was just as good right to the end. I wondered why I hadn't heard of her before and found out she's British. Hope she gets more visibility here in the states. She is fun to read and well as listen to and I love her offbeat approach to natural history.
