Hubbard tries to define art

I think what made Hubbard successful was that he managed to put abstract ideas into words. Most of the time it seems like he just made things up but occasionally he could be insightful. And this book on the subject of art, does have some interesting parts, but there's also much of the usual LRH mumbo-jumbo.

In the introduction, LRH says, "The following are rough notes", and much of the book does feel like that, like rough notes rather than a finished, polished product. It has many very short paragraphs and short chapters (I don't know how or if he intended to publish this, as the book seems to have been published some years after his death). Also, while the book is very oversized, the text of the book is only about 120 pages, the other 100 or so pages consist of appendices, "about the author", glossary, index and a list of Scientology books).

Magnificant book that easy to apply and become and artist

Most magnificent book. Make ART easy to understand, apply and create your communication across to the public in a very positive. It is easy to apply and become a manual to handle ART once you finish with the course as you refer to it all the time. You would think that you need to be born artistic with a knack to something. But this book is a road-map Basic Study Manual Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health Dianetics and Scientology Technical Dictionary p that shows you the way for its application in life right away with the ability to apply it on daily basis once you complete the course. You become active artist and not passive.

Highly recommended for long time artists, or the one that just embarking newly into the field. Both can end up getting dramatically great result in the field. Enjoy it.

It takes away the complexity without taking away the beauty

Art is often presented as complex or only to be understood by some special elite. There also seems to be quite a lot of "art" that to me has simply gained popularity on an "emperor's new clothes" basis, so this book came as a welcome surprise. It makes art approachable and attainable and we're not just talking about painting here: Hubbard was a very successful writer as well as a poet, composer, musician and designer, so the book deals with the very basics of all art forms.
One of the main things I liked about the book was the fact that it is very practical. You not only can apply it in painting a picture but also in what clothes to wear today. As Hubbard says in the book you can make living itself into an art form.
