It has succeeded, argues the author, because of a stealthy appeal to the waning and insecure forces of an American liberalism gone bad. Christopher Hitchens followed Governor Clinton through New Hampshire in 1992, and has remained an assiduous student of his methods ever since.

In No One Left to Lie To, he profiles the rise and decline of some prominent Clintonoids, from George Stephanopoulos to the First Lady. He scrutinizes the debased new language in which the discourse of Clintonism has been couched, and proposes that, if successful, the Clinton machine will become the model of pseudo-democracy for the coming century.

Christopher Hitchens (1949-2011) was the author of Letters to a Young Contrarian, and the bestseller No One Left to Lie To: The Values of the Worst Family. A regular contributor to Vanity Fair, The Atlantic Monthly and Slate, Hitchens also wrote for The Weekly Standard, The National Review, and The Independent, and appeared on The Daily Show, Charlie Rose, The Chris Matthew's Show, Real Time with Bill Maher, and C-Span's Washington Journal. He was named one of the world's "Top 100 Public Intellectuals" by Foreign Policy and Britain's Prospect.

    I was a fan of Bill Clinton's but this book has made me change my mind. No person guilty of even half of what Clinton is being accused of deserves to be president of any nation, let alone the USA. His indictment may not have been in a court of law but the book makes a compelling and believable case for his guilt.

    Anything by Hitchens is worth reading but this one especially so because it is about the person who, for eight years, was the most powerful person in the world. It's made me change my mind about Hillary as well - I now hope she doesn't win the presidency in 2016.

    The late, great Christopher Hitchens wrote a scathing polemic that exposes the former President - and his wife (final chapter) - for who they are: opportunistic, obsequious, and venal. The book also is a great reminder of - and counterpoint to - most of this country's amnesia to the fact that this was an administration that completed Reagan's roll-back of FDR's New Deal, escalated the war on drugs, and contributed to inflaming the Middle East tensions in the decade prior to the war on terror, all the while in an attempt to cover up his personal indiscretions. Hitchens shows in his florid, erudite tones in the way only he could how both President Clinton and his spouse "did nothing for the liberal cause except to betray it." A very salient reminder that is just as apt then as it is today as the 2016 campaign is about to begin.

    I received this book as a Christmas present in 1999 and promptly placed it in my stack of books to read. Almost 13 years later I discovered it while organizing my library and started reading that night. I became a fan of Christopher Hitchens late in his career. It wasn't until I heard him as a regular guest on Hugh Hewitt's radio talk show that I realized what a gem he was. I certainly enjoy the style of his writing especially the no holds barred approach he takes with facts to back it up. What I found most astonishing about the book though is how relevant it is today in the political climate we find ourselves. He will be missed when this election is over and the books about Obama's presidency are written. I highly recommend this book. It gives great insight into what happened at the end of the 20th century and the fecklessness of politics. There are stands that mister Hitchens takes that I don't agree with but he makes his point in such a way that I can't help but smile when he states them.

    This short book I took on soon after reading "Hitch-22". I had previously read sometime ago "The Trial of Henry Kissinger" and remember being blown away by the force of his arguments and the shrapnel of facts he packed in his charges. I was not disappointed here with his critique of the Clintons and their abuse of power to silence and shame those that impeded their political progress. I recall an email exchange with co-workers in the 90s regarding the Lewinsky affair and impending impeachment proceedings where I agreed that Clinton was a "boob", but I argued that being so was not enough to warrant a trial and removal from office. I now,see that I was being too lenient on the (then) President, and that what I took as plain partisan extremism on the part of the Republicans was most definitely instead a clear case of abuse of power by a sitting President. The smearing of Lewinsky and the flagrant call to arms at key points in time leading up to the trial are plainly laid out by Hitchens, and in my opinion there is no reasonable way to argue that they are anything but an attempt through the exercise of power to remain in power. It is a sad indictment as well for those on the Left who failed to hold the Clintons accountable for what they did.

    Christopher Hitchens was a treasure and reading this book reminds me of the void that his passing has left. In this polemic he challenges many of the commonly held beliefs about Bill Clinton - for example, the notion that he was the nation's "first black president" - and offers a damning indictment of Clinton's blatant political maneuverings. While few of his flaws are left unexamined, it is probably Clinton's odd relationship with Dick Morris that serves as the most useful insight into Clinton's chameleon-like character. Hitchens describes how Clinton would and did sell out his principles for political expediency, regardless of how those actions impacted the interests of the very people he claimed to champion.

    I reluctantly supported Bill Clinton in both 1992 and 1996 and I imagine that I will end up reluctantly supporting Hillary this year. This is not an endorsement of Hillary, just a sad commentary on the fact that the other options are even worse. That having been said, it is unfortunate that, what I consider to be, the brilliant legacy of Barack Obama will be inherited by the self-serving interests of the Clintons. Even more upsetting is the fact that Christopher Hitchens is no longer here to chronicle their failings for us.

    This book was written in 1999. However with Hillary currently running for President, this book has become an important read. We have all heard about Clinton`s misdeeds. What Hitchens attempts to do, is piece them altogether . This enables the reader, to form an outline on Clinton`s character and Presidental legacy.

    A warning to the potential reader; a lot of the revelations about Clinton are quite disturbing. Hitchens explains that Bill Clinton was a; chronic liar, adultery, influence peddler, rapist, draft dodger, war criminal, and has absolutely no principles. He has one and only one driving ambition, and that is maintaining political power. In short, Hitchens`s descriptions define the man as a complete sociopath.

    I found the chapter on Hillary, to be the most pertinent. The Clinton Foundation and their questionable money raising methods, are currently under media scrutiny. Not to mention, Hillary`s missing emails from her Secretary of State posting. All these nasty events can be comprehended, after reading this book.

    I would also like to say, hats off to Christopher Hitchens. He was never afraid to address issues, that the lapdog media refuse to acknowledge. It is a terrible loss, that the world has lost such a great writer. Rest in peace, Mr. Hitchens.

He outlines his case against Clinton with devastating force, cutting deeply into the mythologies surrounding him, his self-interested political agenda, his serial womanising. Hitch sets about gleefully dismantling the carefully constructed myth of Clinton as the victim of a right wing witch hunt. He spares neither left nor right, placing his sympathies with the victims of sex crimes. And of course, being Hitch, he does a devastating job.

    Polemical and indefatigably researched, this is a book capable of ripping the veil of Clinton charm to one side for long enough to rattle the convictions of any Clinton supporters.

    In the forward there is a comment on the fury that led him to write this book. It is evident in the writing style, with "and another thing" of a furious ranting writer.

    In the Presidential debates between Trump and H Clinton, Trump referred to her husband as a disgraced struck off a Lawyer (disbarred in Arkansas) and a buyer off of women who accused him of rape. Trump had them in the front row.

    Hitchens refers to these cases and forensically ties Clinton to raping a number of women, with a consistent behaviour of biting each on the top lip during the course of his attack. Team Clinton then lied and misdirected, and tried to destroy the lives of these unfortunates using state instruments including the FBI.

    Hitchens shows how the triangulation model allowed Clinton to cynically offer support to his oppressed minority constituency, and then remove benefits, welfare to work came in, and care in the community for mental illness: you're in the community now and we don't care. Meanwhile his rich friends got richer, and paid money into the Clinton coffers to sleep in the Lincoln bedroom at the White House.

    The urgency of the Democrats in shouting impeachment from the day Trump was elected, should be seen in the misdirection of the Clinton team at that time, when along the corridor Clinton himself was leaving deposits on a black dress, and real impeachment failed at the last hurdle in the Senate because of majority rules requirements.

    Indeed so many lies were told, that no one could keep up. The old adage, you can catch a thief but you cannot catch a liar remains true.

    The model Clinton established was taken up by other politicians and has contributed to the undermining of political trust in the US and UK.

    It's a pity the author passed away, his forensic fury in this book shows what can be achieved in a few days of urgent writing by a skilled reporter.
