I’m listening to it now. Copy was clean as was the art work. The owner of the shop even penned a cheery Thank-You …. Price was excellent.

This is an outstanding CD. A criticism of many comtemporary players is that they all sound similiar. Not true of KG. His alto--sound and phrasing--is easily identifiable. His unique voice is heard here on a CD featuring his own songs. The songs are tuneful and not simply blowing vehicles. A lot of beautiful tunes, and a nice mix of smoking burners and ballads. SPecial props to the band. 'Tain Watts always keeps things swinging and exciting. (note: A recent CD featuring Watts and Garrett--Watts' "Live at the Blue Note") is also highly recommended.

Songbook is an outstanding date from a master who is still growing in control and expression. On this gorgeous complement to the more experimental Beyond the Wall, Garrett demonstrates his command of more structured forms, with great support from a powerful rhythm section. I would name some standout moments, but I can't--the whole disc is a standout.

One good song, cut #4, Sing a Song of Songs.
Rest mediocre at best.

This review is for the physical product - the CD, not for the music. The music is exceptional as mentioned in other reviews.

I didn't realize the CD I bought was "manufactured on demand when ordered from Amazon.com" until I received the order. Because I purchase CDs from other sellers on Amazon, the first idea when I got the CD was whether the CD is a pirated copy. It is not. It is a legal copy sold by Amazon.

The actual CD I received was poorly made. It include all of the inserts and artwork, but the quality is very bad. The print is blurry. You can barely recognize the text. The paper used is thin. Even the jewel case is flimsy. It feels like someone made the CD from a home office.

The CD itself is also sub-quality. Even though Amazon claims the CD was made from the original source materials. Because the CD-R they used is cheap material and the CD is burned instead of pressed with higher standards, the sound is sort of muddy, not as clear as it should be.

It is part of the reason why we are still buying CDs for good sound quality and for good packaging. It is the experience opening the package and feeling the physical products in our hands. Otherwise, why not just buy the MP3.

Stay away from buying CDs manufactured by Amazon.
