What is there to say... it's a Lego building plate. It is perfect for it's intended use. The price of these fluctuate, so you may want to watch it for a little while if you're buying several (like I did). I was going to glue these down, but I think I won't. My son likes to be able to use the activity table for other things too, and we haven't had any issues with him using them separately. Just be sure to keep them flat on the table, as they are thin and bend easily if not supported properly. That's just how they're made.

Large Lego creations often need a large base plate to build upon. This ensures that everything is properly secured, and correctly spaced. However, large building plates generally come with the larger sets, meaning that if your Lego tub is a combination of many smaller sets, you probably won't have one.

That's where this product comes in.

Functionally, this is a very simple piece of Lego, albeit a large one. Lego bricks attach to it as they should, allowing builders of all ages to build outward and upward. It's big enough for a decent sized castle, house with a lot, city scene, or whatever else your imagination dictates.

I had similarly sized plates when I was young and found them to be very handy. My kids certainly love this one, and already are building things they haven't before. This is highly recommended.

I would say that while I think 7 bucks is a bit much my son has had constant play using this and has definitally put 7 bucks worth of use into it I think. I do agree that they should be included and I also would like to find one of the lego tables although someones suggestion of fixing them to a board or something might just be an idea. My son has used them to build hotels on or even makes his own "game grid" or mazes or even maps. He is 7 and I have to say he loves this thing and I plan on maybe getting him another. I nearly forgot to add that while some people have seen durability problems we haven't. It has even been stepped on by his older sister and while it left a faded green mark it did not bend it or anything. It has been very durable for us.

Great alternative to a lego table if space is an issue. Children will play legos for many, many years but often outgrow a child's lego table. This will stay with them as long as they are interested. Not a bad idea to have both plates and tables because it gives them an alternative to play in different places. These are your standard lego plates and the price is comparable to what you would pay at the lego store.

I have a tough time giving most Lego items five stars but that's mainly based on "bang for the buck". All Lego brand items tend to be over priced in my opinion. That being said they are still great fun. Building plates are not essential for all builders but they can be very helpful especially if you want to create larger Lego scenes. This green plate is obviously colored to be a lawn or nature type base and that will work for many projects. These also come in blue LEGO Blue Building Plate (10" x 10") . Its a shame they don't come in other colors especially tan, grey, brown or other natural colors. There is a larger 15' x 15' grey plate available but it's about three times the price of the 10" x 10" and therefore not as good a value LEGO Bricks & More Building Plate 628 .

The plate itself is rather thin but its sturdy enough for its intended use. You can definitely use multiple plates together as long as you have a flat surface. You could glue a bunch of these together on a table top or other flat surface if you wanted to make a larger, firmer surface. I glued four of these onto the top of a child's wooden table which is now a great Lego table. I may experiment with Velcro next time so I can change individual plates. I'll update this review if I decide to try it!

A must addition to a Lego collection

This past Christmas we got a lot of Lego for our kids. The Lego brand gives the impression of being all kits with specific instructions - and while those are fun, you also need some basics.

We go to the library a lot and a few weeks before Christmas the librarian had made this awesome marble run using one of these plates. I thought we needed to do this at home. We had a good time changing the run, making a few new marble roads, giving the marble a few exit points...

I'm sharing a picture because this is a fun use of the plate even for younger kids. This is just one of the ways you can use Lego bricks in an imaginative way.

Also as you can see, regular Lego bricks will fit this plate well. Yes, the plate is flexible but it is not 'bent' in particular once you place a structure on it.

I hate Legos. I really do. But I get how important they are, teaching math, following directions, blah blah blah. My son plays with them all the time, but when he is done, he has nowhere to put his half completed creations, so he tears them down and puts them away in his Lego box. I bought 3 of these and I superglued them on a shelf in his bookcase. This way, he has a place to play, create and he can take the shelf in and out. (it's a bit heavy for him but he will figure it out) He can now look at his creations, and the shelf is high enough that his 20 month old sister cannot reach it. (he is almost 7). I had to cut one to fit and it cut very easily with an exacto knife. I had asked a question about that earlier and a few people said the plastic was too rigid. It's not. The shelf looks awesome.

While it is small, it is WONDERFUL especially for younger boys who need to 'stabilize' their creation. It's also a great way to preserve what they have built. I had one for my 10 year old son, and when my younger boys graduated from Duplo's to classic Lego's, there was a "I want this" battle; so I bought 2 more. Now they build independently, together. I keep looking for decent priced Lego tables but these are good to use in lieu of buying an actual Lego table. Just set up the dining room table with one at each seat and Lego land begins. My only wish is that they made bigger plates. Do they?

It is a good base to build your cities or structures, ect... on. My kids loved them as they could now build their cities on something that could be moved around (albeit carefully). Hours of fun (if you have other LEGO's of course) and we still use them today. I would recommend buying this LEGO plate, but be aware they are single sheets and not multiple as I had originally though - but that was my mistake, not theirs. The seller was great too as the package arrived quickly and in excellent condition.
