Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Keyspan Digital Media Remote is a powerful infrared remote which allows you to control multimedia applications on your computer in the same convenient way that you now control your home TV. Great for PowerPoint, iTunes, QuickTime, DVD players, CD players, the Windows Media Player and more.

The Keyspan Digital Media Remote controls your multimedia applications by sending them the same keystrokes that you do when you control the application from the keyboard. For example, if your program uses the "N" key to advance to a new slide, the Keyspan DMR Remote Control can send the same key to your application allowing you to control your application from across the room.

Had difficulty using this remote with the system at my school. Never had full use of all the buttons. When I started using it regularly in my classrooom the button labels wore off and I had to figure out which was which again. Since then I have found several other similar products on the market that I'd like to replace it with.

Be advised that this will NOT work with the airport express and you need the newer (and more expensive :( ) version of this product in order to use it with the airport express. It cannot be updated to work with it either. Because of this I had to return it.

This worked well for the application but the batteries just kept on dieing in the remote. If they had a larger remote with AAA batteries I would have given it a 4.

It works ok, installed without problems, but the software that controls it is a bit unintuitive. Figuring out how to configure it takes a bit more competency than the average user might have. But once it's configured, it works as expected.

Wow, this remote thing seemed to cool to actually work. It works! You can do almost anything on your PC with the remote. Yeah, most of that is pointless but for music/DVD it is very useful. It comes with a terse 3 step setup card. Install CD, load software, connect receiver and use the remote. The only trouble I had was that the battery contact on the remote got bent when I removed the plastic battery protector. I bent it back in place and all was good. The range of the remote is great. It comes preprogrammed with a bunch of programs and you can map out new applications as long as they have keyboard shortcuts.

This is a great little remote if you don't mind sitting fairly close to the ir receiver.

Maybe the battery's weren't as fresh as they could be and I haven't had the time to investigate it further.

I downloaded the beta driver (2.4) from keyspan so now I can control Frontrow.

So if your expectations aren't too high you won't get dissapointed.

This is a dandy little item at a great price. Worked right out of the box with Windows Media Player but I had to program some of the buttons to work with WinDVD (easy to figure out). You'll need to use the driver disk (supplied), even with WinXP Pro with SP2, and the drivers won't work with Windows Vista Beta 2. I use it all the time and I'm very pleased.

I found this remote easy to install and set up with my iMac G4. You can customize the buttons on the remote to do virtually anything from moving the mouse cursor to keyboard commands to quiting and opening different applications.
The only problem I have had was when I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.3 Panther, the volume buttons no longer operate the system volume anymore. I have sent MULTIPLE emails to Keyspan with only a reply saying they will respond in 72 hours, but THEY DONT! Everytime I try to call nobody answers the phone.
In conclusion, this is a great remote for controlling everything on your computer from a few feet away, but beware if you need any technical support because they may not be there to help you.
