Product description

Nas ~ God's Son

Amazon.com

Do we have to compare Nas to Jay-Z? Probably not, but skirmishes between New York’s premier MCs make it difficult for us to stop. Nas’s God’s Son may fall victim to Jay Z’s more polished Blueprint 2 on the battlefront, but as far as Nas releases go, this one's not that bad at all. In fact, there are some striking stand-out selections. "Made You Look" and "Last Real Nigga Alive" (Nas’s inevitable "why Jigga is wack" track) are white hot for the streets, and the Alchemist-produced "Book of Rhymes" showcases the type of witty yet introspective rhymes that Nas fans crave. Still, one can't escape the impression that the album suffers from a bloated track listing and quite a few unnecessary guest appearances, including yet another "collaboration" with the long-dead 2Pac. We also could have done without the tired misogyny of the limited-edition bonus track, "P***y Kills." Oh, and Salaam Remi’s beat on "Zone Out" deserves a doper rhyme than the one it supports. But for the most part, Nas’s flow is on point. --Rebecca Levine

God's Son is another wonderful installment by one of my favorite mcs', Nas. It wasn't long ago before this Nas released Stillmatic, and he pretty much proved that he still has the ability to put out a classic album that rivals some of his early work, and with time and dedication he can call himself one of the best mcs' of all time.

While God's Son doesn't have the explosion and fireworks Stillmatic caused after It's release It still is a album with some real hot tracks that fail to dissapoint Nas fans. Unfortunately this time around theres a tiny bit of filler, and Zone Out is atrocious (sorry Bravehearts).

My top picks:

The Cross

Made You Look

Last Real N**** Alive

Book of Rhymes

Thugz Mansion (w/ 2Pac)

Had to buy this CD again. Most of my earlier Nas albums have gotten too worn out and scratched over the years so I'm going back and replacing them. This is one of my favorite albums he has done. A lot of good tracks on here but Heaven is probably my fav.

This album was Nas at his best since Illmatic and It was Written. The story telling in Get Down is great and have a nice moral to it, Book of rhymes is one of my favorite songs dealing with him reading over the rhymes he wrote awhile back, Thug's Mansion was a nice combination of his flows with 2pac. Every time I hear this album it just gets better and better. The more I hear it, the more I listen to every track and it
just makes you want to listen to it over and over. From the lyrics to the beats, it's just a great album but what else can you expect. This
is Nas and he doesn't disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic packed with observations on today's world and why change is needed

Throughout this album you are hit repeatedly with a lot of observations of life through the eyes of someone else. Whilst the compositions and ryhthyms are great, the lyrics are just amazing, the depth of which reminds me work done by earlier groups like a tribe called quest, de la soul, and so on.
Nas shows his ability to put commentary to melody and it's a great album that should hold a place in anyone's collection.
