MapSource City Select v7 for North America includes full-coverage maps throughout the United States as well as select Canadian coverage. This updated product provides access to all regions at no extra charge. It's included with the purchase of a Garmin GPS V Deluxe or iQue 3600 (so don't buy this if you already bought those unless it's a gift!), and it's compatible with the GPSMap 196.

Version 5 features include trip and waypoint management functions (which work with nearly all Garmin GPS units, excluding the GPS 100 family and panel-mount aviation units), full coverage for metro and rural areas throughout the contiguous U.S., supplemental coverage of Alaska and Hawaii, and select coverage of Canada.

You'll enjoy detailed maps containing highways, interstates, and business and residential streets, with turn restrictions, speed categories, and other navigation features.

Especially convenient is the ability to create automatic, point-to-point routes in MapSource, the GPS V Deluxe, iQue, and GPSMap 196. Over five million points of interest include food and drink, lodging, attractions, entertainment, shopping, emergency services, post offices, camp grounds, movie theaters, and other spots.

Expanded Canadian coverage in v6 includes: Alberta (Edmonton, Banff, Calgary); British Columbia (Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, and Whistler); Ontario (London, Toronto-Golden Horseshoe, Ottawa-Gatineau, Stratford, and Winsdor); and Quebec (Montreal, Ottawa-Gatineau, and Quebec city).

Note: North America City Select v7 CD map data must be unlocked prior to use, which can be done via Garmin's unlock pages or by phone. When using a locked MapSource product, the real-time track plotting function will work only with a valid unlock code for the GPS unit being used.

I'm still discovering the power of this program - at least when teamed with the Garmin 60CS. Auto routing, waypoints, detailed maps, assistance in finding the nearest gas station... the list is nearly endless.

I've recommended this combination to several of my friends who are also consultants and who operate in a broad geography.

Haven't been able to download it, along with the $200+ other maps I bought!

This software has incredible potential, but can be difficult to use. It comes with the numbers to unlock all the maps, but I haven't figured out how to make it stop asking me for the unlock code every time I want to look at the maps. I love the detail it provides and am looking forward to an upcoming trip to put its incredible potential to use.

I bought the update CD (v6 to V7) and I received it in DVD. No big problem, but when I tried to open maps they wanted another $50 to so do. Nowhere did Garmin tell me in advance they were going to charge again to open the CD (DVD) I already paid for.

Used it one time without problems

I started using MapSource 6.0 with a Garmin Quest and therefore I've become very facile in using it. Every once in a great while it will get an address slightly wrong. There is a restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale called Sage and it's located in a shopping center. MapSource consistently puts it on the wrong side of the street. However, this is a rare occurence.

I travel a lot, and take my Garmin Quest with me all over the country. It is, quite simply put, invaluable. It always gets me where I need to go and quickly corrects itself if I make a wrong turn. I can't imagine life without it anymore! I even use it on my bike for long trips throughout southern Florida.

I just upgraded to version 7 and assume that it will be an update of new streets, etc. I can only say that I'd buy both the Garmin Quest and MapSource all over again. If I had to ask for new features, it would be the following:

    1. It would be better if instead of the unit saying "In 400 feet, turn left" it said, "In 400 feet, turn left onto Main St." This may be more of a Quest limitation than the sw.

    2. When looking up addresses that contain NW, East, etc., leave out the direction and only enter the street name. As an example, if the address is 123 NW Main St., search only on 123 Main St. You will then be presented with the "NW" part in the search results window. For whatever reason, MapSource does horribly with directional addresses. It will almost always return no results for your search.

    3. If you're buying a new model (I really like my Garmin), be sure that it is Bluetooth compatible. The Quest is not. The advantages of using a Bluetooth phone with the unit become evident the first time you do it. It immediately adds a speakerphone to your car and allows most GPS units to update themselves with the latest traffic information.

In short, I give this sw 5 stars! Everything in life should be so reliable and deliver such value!

This newer Garmin City Navigator v7 DVD software is inferior to ordered older discontinued City Select v7 in too many ways to descibe. I paid a stout 100% premium for discontinued seller (greatestsale) described Garmin City Select v7 CD-ROM Map - North America and seller shipped me current Garmin City Navigator v7 DVD which I could have purchased directly from Garmin for half of what I paid seller. This newer version map segments are much too large as to be unusable on smaller screen devices. Sellers customer service # is always busy. Gee, wonder why? Buyer beware.

The City Select software, available for my Vista-C, allows me to go anywhere, and eliminates 3 of my travel pet peeves.

1.I don't have to do map searches on paper maps...

2.I don't have to go to mapquest...

3.I don't have to ask for directions ( my biggest peeve)...

The only negative is I ordered the V6, which is a CD version.

I received V7 from Amazon, and had to buy a DVD drive for the laptop...I give Amazon's order department zero stars...
