I love that this book is a quick read. (I bought the paperback bc after doing some research I think the Kindle version does not include the Bonus content journaling pages though I could be wrong.) I read it in a few chunks of time that probably equal something like a little over 2 hours total. I seriously plan to reread it almost immediately and then to reread it again in a few months. I can picture myself in a few months making some hot tea and curling up for a couple of hours on a rainy day to refresh and refocus myself with all of Brooke's bits of wisdom by rereading this. I want to loan it to some of my friends but I wrote so many notes in the margins (things like "ouch! yes, I do this.") as I went along that I'm a little embarrassed to loan my copy now haha!
I like that this book is a quick read but I also feel like it is deep stuff! Like so many big truth nuggets back to back. I had this thought while reading that it's kind of like how the Bible is where you can take a verse and just dissect it and focus in on it. I'd be ready and be like "oh that is good" and then the next sentence same thing, and then the next..... It was like truth bombs going off boom, boom, boom! I had more "Aha moments" than I could count while reading. And the best part is Brooke really makes it all easy to understand, easy to relate to, and very motivating.
Brooke will be your cheerleader. You will feel so uplifted after finishing. You will realize that it is possible. Don't buy into the commonly share joke of "I kept the kids alive today so it was a successful day." Change the narrative. Let Brooke guide you and gently lead you into a more fulfilling life where you create a framework that works for you and your unique situations.
I will definitely keep an eye out for further books by Brooke!
I've put into practice some of Brooke's practical suggestions and learned how to define my priorities and standards so I can spend more time loving people in my home and less time working to corral the chaos of life because I take simple steps throughout the day to keep it orderly and peaceful. This book is life-changing for people who will put its rich wisdom into practice! And don't be intimidated by the lies that you can't have an orderly, peaceful home because you're not that kind of person...listen to the truth found in the pages of this book that says you are capable and that it's worth it.
And PS: After taking Brooke's wisdom to heart these past few months, I actually had time to finish writing a novel that I'd been working on for far too long! Thank you for writing what I needed to hear in this season. It's made all the difference!
After being a mother to the four children I adopted for a year, we bought our first home. We moved a little over a year ago and with the exception of one room and a few appliances, I have don't nothing to make this place my home or make it even feel like a home. I am up to my ears in boxes that haven't been unpacked and piles of things that need to be organized. I have tons of clothes and and shoes and have to get rid of so many of them.
After about the first quarter of reading the book, I felt like there was so much to do and I actually had the motivation to do something which I haven't had in a very long time.
I was always so discouraged because I didn't know where to start and the piles were ever looming over my head. I was exhausted before I even started. Brooke showed me that it is possible! It's possible to have a clean house even in the midst of chaos. I am slapping myself for every time I told someone it was ok and to let their houses go because mine was that way. I made them believe the same lie I had been fed.
It is so much easier to find and maintain motivation for something when you actually have pride in it.
Thank you Brooke for showing me the unending possibilities!
