I really liked the team of enforcers that Cate has assembled over the previous two books. She has a mixture of family, friends, and unlikely allies. With Jason being kidnapped they all pull together to find him before it becomes too late. I will tell you that they had a very, very close call and it brought about a turn of events involving Cate that she should have never survived, but did. This only cemented her newly acquired status of Grand Mistress and as Goddess Marked.
Cate did not really care for either title. All she wanted was her husband safe and whole. He was not though, he was suffering from amnesia and for a man over six thousand years old who had never before had an issue with memory, it was disconcerting. So much so that it created a divide between him and his allies. Jason did not want to burden those closest to him so he turned to some past acquatinces and that was his first mistake.
Cate and crew have a case that they are working on and simultaneously they are dealing with some political maneuvering of a negative sort. I really enjoyed all the action and plot points that were taking place throughout this story. I especially enjoyed the emphasis on the bond between Jason and Cate. I thought that it was quite cool how it connected them and how it was adversely affected by the emotional distance between them.
This story was definitely a high pressure, no holds barred story with a lot on the line. I thought that the entire Denai witch society was quite unique and well thought out. I found that Cate’s character as Goddess Marked was intriguing and added much to the storyline. I also liked that even though she was High Priestess of her people who sat on the council and governed with witches as enforcers that she still carried on as an enforcer herself. It kept her grounded and made her more relatable for this type of story. Overall I enjoyed Denai Storm! It was a good read!!
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Author, Tiffany Shand. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
Highly recommended is an understatement.
Denai's husband has been kidnapped and she has a team rescue him. He has lost him memory and doesn't know where he was or what happened to him. The Covenant are evil and seeking revenge. This is a fast paced mystery with lots of action and danger. Well written with a strong plot and interesting characters. I was given an advance copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
