I had a brand new IPOD and wasn't very happy with it. Everybody was talking about how awesom the Kindle Fire was...... so I sold my IPOD and bought a Kindle Fire. Not only did I pay about $120.00 less for it, but everything that I needed the IPOD to do the Kindle does, usually better. I love everything about the Kindle Fire from the bigger screen and louder speakers, to the ample amount of very useful free apps. I'm very excited about my Kindle Fire and haven't been able to set it down since I got it. So thank you.

I have both. Used the ipod for several years. Since I have gotten the KF I use it alot more and just love it. I use my ipod when out and about because some of the apps I use on the ipod are not available on the KF. At Home I don't use the ipod as much.

I am an old lady and was thrilled with my Kindle, Cos' I could take it on trips, however, some of the charges for books online are over the top, I buy mainly old editions, and to pay $15 plus for stuff that is now out of print is too much,in the Supermaket yesterday I could buy brand new editions, on most of Baldaci for $5-00, and when I have read and enjoyed, I can hand them on to friends, so I will continue with my Kindle for travel, but have reverted to the Public Library, for my reading, in future, read as much as I want and no charge.

I still use my IPod for working out. Used to use it for long walks as well but now I use my Kindle Fire because I have books, music, games, etc. all in one place. Kindle Fire is not an IPad and should not be compared with an IPad.

John Taylor says:
Marj, some public libraries have the ability to "loan" books to Kindle. You have to have a library card but I'm guessing that's not a prob with you. Check your main branch and see if they do the Kindle loan program. Not sure it's available in Oz though. Good luck.

PS. I agree that some books are waaay over priced. I thought I read that books whose copyrights had expired would become extremely cheap or free. We'll see if that happens.

Yes John, if I download a new book I expect to pay a higher fee, however I have down loaded a few R;F; Dederfield , novels, the author has been dead for many years, and they are not cheap, yes I borrow books from the Public Library, they also have a stack of withdrawn books, which they see for $1-00.
Thank you for your Post.

I too got the Fire deal ($129.00). 6 days ago, I have gone back and forth with Amazon because when I'm told and given a date for delivery I expect that to be true, at least approx,.I waited for this deal and took it. Still haven't received my Kindle Fire and was told 2 days ago by Amazon " well, it was lost while in transit". I said ok, it happens, someone took it,stole it or whatever but please I still paid for one can you (Amazon) send me another? ASAP. They apologized and said no problem, well send it next day air, that would have been here 11-30-2012 or even 12-01-12, Nope, didn't come, I called again,8th time, and was now told "oh we ran out of them", Are you kidding me! So, I must be the exception, or am I...I hear it's a real nice reader..
I was also told by an Amazon Cust.Serv. that they have to activate my Kindle,What?

I just got a K Fire for christmas and while i like it so far the fact that you can not organize your books into catagories something I can do on my older kindle reader is just dumb. If I had known that ahead of time I may not have ended up with this device. As for those folks with a large number of books it is hard to find what you are looking for sometimes.
This is NOT a way to make folks want to buy either the fire or more books.

Bixillarla says:
The Fire is NOT a ereader so it does not have all the features of the Eink Kindles. It is a media consumption device and uses the Kindle for Android app. The apps with the exception of the PC app does not have collections.

This has been a known fact since the first generation fire. People have been complaining about no collections feature on the Fires with no success.
