How can I find out what kind of Kindle I have? The instrument, instruction booklet, everything just says AmazonKindle. My library wants to know if it is Kindle Cloud. I know It's not Kindle Touch. I am at a lose.

Kindle Cloud Reader is a Kindle app for your web browser. If you're holding the device in your hands, it's not the Cloud app.

Kindle Touch has a touch screen, with no page-turn buttons on the side.

The basic Kindle has page-turn buttons on the side, but no physical keyboard on the bottom.

Kindle Keyboard has a keyboard across the bottom.

Kindle Fire has a screen that lights up like a computer. It looks like a small iPad.

Hopefully one of these descriptions describes your Kindle.

I'm not sure why there isn't something written on them which says what it is. Cellphones are a pain like that too. Sure, I know it's a Samsung but what's the model? Usually I have no idea.

Alas, they think you should know when very rarely does it even matter.

Ah, but in various Kindle guides on line they refer to a "Kindle 2." How does that work, please?

This is a Kindle 2:

if you look on the back, you will find a model number. if you google that model number, it should give you the type of kindle you have. hopefully...

Jeanine's answer was good, but it still left me not knowing what *generation* it is. I just ended up calling customer service and asking them. The serial number for the device is on the Kindle itself, but Googling it yielded nothing. Just cut to the chase and call customer service--they are quick, too.

Do I have a kindle fire 7" or a kindle fire HD 7"?

That was the absolute best answer possible to the question!
