Greg D says:
PLEASE, add the VOD option to your Kindle app for the Android system! Or, create an app for VOD.

There is already a VOD app for the Kindle Fire (which is based on Android) so it seems like it should be pretty easy for them to do.

I have both Roku and Google TV. Amazon has a decent native app for Roku. When I bought the Google TV, I am really surprised to see there is no native app for Amazon VOD sofar. After all I thought Amazon is a major VOD provider and Google TV is a major market for them. Granted Google TV can do browser access, but that is no excuse to make Amazon VOD app launch the browser to watch videos. My kids routinely use Amazon prime videos thro' Roku and it's almost impossible for them to use the Google TV app and navigate thro' the browser interface to watch anything. This is a serious let down by Amazon.

Yes, Android and Google TV support for Amazon VOD should have happened long ago. It makes no sense whatsoever for Amazon to lose out on all those customers. And now Google has its own VOD service, but it's nowhere near Amazon's collection. It doesn't even have TV shows. Come on Amazon!

I agree. I just got GoogleTV and I am very disappointed in Amazon for not having an app. Using the browser to find videos is a pain for me, not to mention my kids and this completely disrupts the clean interface of using GoogleTV. Other GoogleTV based devices are coming out this year with Amazon VOD (Vizio) so why is this so tough to make it available for all GoogleTV devices? If Amazon wants to be a big player in this market, they need to get on all devices like Netflix has done.

A VOD app for Android devices OTHER than the Fire would be REALLY nice, Amazon! I use it on my Roku and we love it, but it would be nice to have access on more devices. This needs to change!!

I second the app for Amazon VOD on 360. I'd love to have it there. An Android app is a close second.

I have a Lenovo K1 Tablet and what I do is log on to my Amazon Prime account and stream movies straight to the tablet using the browser. A click after the movie starts and one click it goes to full screen.

Rob T. says:
Yeah, problem is, adobe flash (which is what amazon vod uses) support in android is going to end soon . So while that may work for a while, when the next version of flash comes out, you won't be able to view movies in the browser anymore, in fact any website that uses flash won't work anymore in android, which kinda sucks. Flash support was one of the best features of android.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 28, 2012, 12:17:14 PM PDT
The no support for flash, is that in Android period, or just in the browser. I know that the chrome browser will not support flash, which if fine because the depending on your point of view the stock browser is not always your best option. I have not heard about a system-wide lack of support.

Rob T. says:
Yeah, this is for Android period. Adobe is killing its mobile version of flash.

...Which gets us back to the point - Amazon, where is your VOD app for Android??????

i believe amazon may be doing this on purpose to give the kindle fire that extra edge/feature. hopefully they would do whats right for their customers and release a Amazon VOD app for android real soon.

I am waiting for this app too. like many other users, I won't stop using android, Google TV, or any Google services nor Amazon's prime service, nor Kindle Fire. So Amazon, power to the users is power to Amazon, that easy. I am sure I would have watched and rented more movies if Amazon had as many videos with close caption as Netflix, and even more if there was an app for Google TV. Again, that easy.

Please come out with Amazon VOD on android. I feel that the third parties are already close thanks to Kindle Fire, so just release one.

Dabogues says:
So now the 360 app is available, which is nice, but come on, Amazon. Bring some love to Android. It's about the content, not the hardware. If you want my content money, you need to bring it to something mobile other than your own hardware. (That has worked out great for the MP3 store, so I don't know why you wouldn't bring the video).

I'm dropping Amazon Prime. This is ridiculous that it's not on Android. I just signed up because I assumed it HAD to be on Android.

If Amazon doesn't release a native Android app for VOD, then it makes sense for users looking to replace a Fire like myself to go all Apple moving forward - replace the Fire with an iPad, use Itunes for video on demand, and use Netflix for access to subscription content. That seems to be a bad play for Amazon. I would think a native app for Android should be coming.

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 5, 2012, 6:57:23 AM PDT
Actually, no. On Android you have Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, and more. All that is needed is Amazon.
