JNagarya above mentioned the problem of trying to decipher descriptions of public domain films that vary in quality from one release to another. This hit home with me because I sometimes could not figure out which release of a film was the best, often of a bad bunch. In several such cases I just gave up and didn't make the purchase. Surely this was not the result Amazon would have wanted.

Everyone, this is great.

Awesome feedback with your buying and browsing experience on Amazon. With the exception of the occasional sidebars that are somehow still about vacuum cleaners, this is really starting to be productive.

We are up to 59 out of 60 people that agree with this proposal.

Many savvy shoppers use Amazon because of the great deals, so if all of you can spread the word to friends and family or maybe even to others at your favorite blu-ray forum about this petition, much would be obliged by all.

How do you get 59 out of 60 when the discussion states only indicate 26 participants?

Look at my original post.

61 of 62 people think this post adds to the discussion. Do you? [YES] [NO]

Even though some people choose not to make a post, they are still making a statement.

Sorry, I assumed you were smart enough to know what a petition is. You need names for a petition, so only the replies would count as a "petition" entries. Sorry, again, for assuming you knew what a petition really is.

We already tried this with the CD and LP reviews. Results: Fail!

I do know what a petition is.

In my first post, I stated that this wasn't an official petition.

But this is an online forum, so stop splitting hairs.

A single person can only vote on a single post ONE time. Regardless if someone voices their opinion in a post, Amazon will still see that X number of people out of X number of People agree with the PREMISE.

The end result will be a general poll of Amazon's consumers and how they feel about a single facet of the shopping experience on Amazon.

Thanks, Rick. That is good advice, as of right now however, I believe that the thread is too short to warrant multiple postings of the original intent. Clearly (as of right now) the original post is still being read and acted upon.

Back OT: A resounding YES. Many BD fans are double-dipping and/or have their own opinions about the movie; they're more interested in BD quality & features than in DVD quality & features and/or whether or not the movie is any good. Likewise, a DVD buyer does NOT need to read raves about the film's BD quality. Perhaps you could provide a link to the DVD (and even VHS) reviews for more opinions about the movie; but for the most part DVD reviews only clutter BD pages (and vice versa).
