Talk about the hardest forum to find on Amazon. They dont even have this listed on rudimentary car materials like brake pads. smh.

Well, we're here now. Please, does anybody know the best back-up camera out there? something simple but with great picture quality, able to be installed without being obvious maybe on the license plate. But first and foremost, good image quality. There are too many price variations out there that i'm completely lost. My budget is $50 or less. It will be installed on an Alpine INE-S920HD deck. Suggestions are welcome as well.

I purchased a Esky Waterproof NTSC Universal Car Rearview License Plate Backup 1/4 -inch CMOS Camera + IR Night Vision (New), took me about 1/2 hr to install on my 7" Touch screen. I did have available RCA wires in trunk. And I hooked the power to the rt. side back-up lamp power wire. I select reverse and my Radio switches automaticly. For $6.99 and shipping of $5.00 you can't beat it.

I read through the reviews, many people complained about the longevity. I dont know if i should stay away from it, seems too cheap though.

Hey Real217,

For Backup Camera Basics, check out: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_365708082_6?ie=UTF8&docId=1000819261&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-5&pf_rd_r=0PSXVFQ1VTHB5RC23RYB&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_p=1405624202&pf_rd_i=1000819151#Back-Up%20Camera%20Basics.

It will take you through Backup Camera style options. It also talks about image quality. If that is your main concern, you'll probably want to look for a backup camera with CCD image sensors. However, most of the cameras under $50 are likely CMOS because they are less expensive to make, but also have low image quality.

If you have Backup Camera installation questions, check out: http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/mobile-gps-mp3/cerc/05-Install-Guide-BackUp-Cameras-v4E._V386227669_.pdf#Back-Up%20Camera%20Installation%20Guide

Hope this helps,

I bought a very nice camera to give as a gift. After seeing the high quality of the image I ordered one for myself today to replace one that looks exactly like it but this one is much better. It costs only $18.99 on Amazon.

well,i just can tell you,i hav been working on the car audio/video for more than 12 years,i always bought brand cameras, like alpine, sony, kenwood, jvc, pioneer, all of thm are over 100us,i know the are expensive ,BUT,VIDEO QUALITY AND LONG LIFE ARE INCOMPARABLE!!.I install a lot in 2006 and are still working on the date.so les expensive and still so good are BOYO REAR VIEW CAMERAS,i recomend you this one,for example:http://www.amazon.com/Boyo-VTL425-Ultra-License-Camera/dp/B001RB1U14/ref=sr_1_19?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1360948663&sr=1-19&keywords=rear+view+camera,that im pretty sure it will fullfill your expectatives.for any installation or doubt call me 3475832847,emmanuel.
