Ferdinand says:
Owned By Kitties aka Lily is Sad that Pope... says:
For the first time, I'm feeling scared for the fate of the Catholic Church. No one has resigned before. "The gates of Hell shall not prevail," Jesus promised. I keep that in mind and pray for us all.

Actually, Lily, four Popes had resigned to the Petrine office before. It's not common but it happens.

My Suggestion, keep the prayers and remmenber, God is in command!

Dave Vicks says:
The church had some really good painters.

Rubedo says:
Is this really such big news?
Even most Cathlics did not care that much about what he had to say.

I understand his standing down. But look honestly at his record:

Never has a pope talked so much and done so little.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 11, 2013, 11:15:47 AM PST
that is probably a good thing

you want more torture killing wars buggering or what
pagan practices and made up lies are just as bad

Kevin Bold says:
That's not up to you to decide, Walter.

But as for "talking," you'd do well to read the man's books.

A Customer says:
Unless you want to have thousands of different doctrines being taught, each by different theologians and preachers with their own opinion on what is divine truth, (see the differences in the Protestant churches, no two preach the same thing), so that it is more of a chaos, where you have no idea who to believe, then you need a central authority to determine Truth. The Church is that central authority, guided by the teachings of the Bishops, when there appears to be ambiguity in what the Church's position is on some theological doctrine, the Pope is the final say on what the Church's actual position is.

Dear Franklin -

It is ALWAYS SO GOOD!!! to hear from you!

Try not to worry. GOD is in charge - so we can rest assured that we are in VERY good Hands...HIS! As Head of the Church He has told us that hell will not prevail against it. My goodness - imo it is a joyous occasion because this dear Pope will hopefully live to see the next one! And there's no way the Holy Spirit can pick a clunker - so pray, give thanks, and don't worry.

Oh - and post more often when you can, please? =)

Greetings! I am doing well. Life is going fairly well for me. I am still dating my lady love. Hopefully we'll be engaged soon, given her a promise ring so the engagement ring is not too far behind. I am unable to attend seminary right now, but I have a fairly good job at this time. Most of all the Church is going well for me, I'm enjoying spiritually and intellectually my life in the Catholic faith.

Well glad you enjoyed what I had to say, and I agree that about the Holy Spirit, however there have been times that the Pope hasn't been the best for the Church. Check out James Hitchcock's "History of the Catholic Church."

So what do you think about some of the conspiracy theories surrounding this development in some of the circles of the Catholic Church? http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/340318/next-pope-last-pope-father-dwight-longenecker
